  1. Contrast the three components of an attitude

Attitudes – are evaluative statements about objects, people or events. Three components – cognition, affect and behavior. Cognitive component is a description of or belief in the way things are. Affective is emotional or feeling segment of an attitude and is reflected in the statement “I am angry over how little I’m paid”. Affective can lead to behavioral outcomes. It describes an intention to behave in a a certain way toward someone or smth. And continue the example “I’m going to look for another job that pays better”

In organizations, attitudes are important for their behavioral component. If workers believe that supervisors, auditors, bosses are all in conspiracy to make employees work harder for the same or less money, it takes sense to try to understand how these attitudes formed, their relationship to actual job behavior, and how they might be changed.

Perceived Organizational support is the degree to which employees believe the organization values their contribution and cares about their well – being.

Employee engagement – an individual’s involvement with, satisfaction with, and enthusiasm for, the work she does.
