Ability is an individual’s current capacity to perform the various tasks in a job. There are: individual and physical abilities exist. Individual abilities – are abilities needed to perform mental activities- thinking, reasoning, and problem solving. Physical abilities – Research on handreds of jobs has identifies nine basic abilities needed in the performance of physical tasks.
Diversity management must be an ongoing commitment that crosses all levels of the organization. Group management, recruiting, hiring, retention, and development practices can all be designed to leverage diversity for the organization’s competitive advantage. Policies to improve the climate for diversity can be effective, so long as they are designed to acknowledge all employees’ perspectives.
