Assessment of the students' academic performance is administered continuously throughout the course based on the IITU Grading Scale. Students are credited against their performance during the two appraisal periods and the examination session, in gross total constituting 100%.

Continuous rating is students’ on-going performance assessed in class work, independent study (T/SIS) and mid/end-of-term tests. It consists of two appraisal periods, 100% each. Continuous rating amounts to 60% of the final grade.

In continuous rating class work includes attendance/participation, historical analysis/English language skills demonstrated during classes and the students’ performance on the progress tests.

Attendance/participation is assessed based on the number of lessons attended and participated in by students. Students will be marked down for missing classes and not participating in class.

Skills of historical analysis are assessed on the basis ofall the activities done in class: discussion on historicall problems and performance on the progress tests on the topics studied.

SIS (Student Independent Study) is students' independent work on the individual project done outside the class and presented in class throughout the semester

TSIS (Teacher Supervised Independent Studies) consist of teacher-supervised class-controlled practical assignments (PA). Each PA contains 6-7 problems on the topics studied.

 

Mid/end-of-term assessment is based on the achievement tests aimed to assess the students’ progress during the appraisal period. The testcontains 3-4 theoretical issues and 2-3 practical problems.

Summative rating (examination) includes 20 multiple choice questions to be done within 60 minutes. The total examination score is 100% amounting to 40% of the final grade.
