Часть 1.TENSES IN THE Passive voice

Прочитайте основные правила образования и употребления форм пассивного залога.

 

THE PASSIVE IS FORMED:

by using the appropriate tense of the verb (to) be + past participle of the main verb.

 

Tense Time Indefinite Continuous Perfect Perfect Continuous
Present is done is being done have been done ------------------
Past was done was being done had been done -----------------
Future will be done --------------- will have been done ------------------
Future in the Past would be done ---------------- would have been done -----------------

 

The Future Continuous, the Present Perfect Continuous, the Past Perfect Continuous, the Future Perfect Continuous are not normally used in the passive. Note: Get is used instead of the verb be in everyday speech when we talk about things that happen by accident or unexpectedly.

THE PASSIVE IS USED:

· When the person who carries out the action is unknown, unimportant or obvious from the context.

The tests are checked and marked.

· To make statements more formal or polite.

Задание 3. Поставьте глагол, данный в скобках, в нужную пассивную форму.

A. How would you feel if you 1) were forced (force) to spend hours and hours sitting in a hard-backed chair, eyes wide open, listening to the sound of someone else’s voice? You wouldn’t 2) ______ (allow) to sleep, eat, or smoke. You couldn’t leave the room. To make matters worse, you’d 3) ________ (expect) to remember every point the speaker made, and you’d 4) ________ (punish) for forgetting. And, to top it off, you’d have to pay thousands of dollars for the experience.
