lurid adj a description, story etc that is lurid is deliberately shocking and involves sex or violence [= explicit]

kept woman n old-fashioned a woman who is given a place to live, money, and clothes by a man who visits her for sex - often used humorously

tap water n water that comes out of a tap (a piece of equipment for controlling the flow of water, gas etc from a pipe or container) rather than a bottle

snort v to breathe something in through your nose

figure v informal to form a particular opinion after thinking about a situation

admit v to agree unwillingly that something is true or that someone else is right
