On 21 February protestors demand the immediate resignation of the President.

On 22 February President Yanukovych flees to Russia.

The protest is superbly documented in the book “#EUROMAIDAN History in the making” about the Revolutions of Dignity and Democracy. I purchased and read the book but just as important, all my contacts in Ukraine participated directly in the action: Luba made soup or hot meals in a tent on Independence Square and handed them out to fighters outside.

Vladyslava did the same. Dennis joined the group carrying bags of paving stones to the front lines where they were hurled at police. Taras organized responses.

In my opinion the Revolution of Dignity has achieved more than the overthrow of a corrupt leader. It has set the country on a new path toward a peaceful link with the West and away from Russian intolerance and brutality demonstrated over the years.

During the balance of 2014 on the domestic front a new government was formed, elections were held and Petro Poroshenko was elected President.
