Write Once, Read Mostly (WORM) disk A type of optical storage that allows a user to write information onto the disk once and then read it as many times as needed.
write-protect notch A notch in the vinyl cover of the floppy disk that, when covered, keeps the disk from being written on.
WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) A function of word processing that allows the user to see on the screen exactly what will be printed.
x-terminal A special type of workstation which uses high-resolution graphics to display subscripts and special symbols on the screen.
