Ø The conclusion will normally make up no more than about 5 to 10 percent of your speech.

Ø Don't leave anything in your conclusion to chance. Work it out in detail, and give yourself plenty of time to practice delivering it. Make sure you can present it smoothly, confidently, and with feeling—without relying on your notes or sounding wooden. Make your last impression as forceful and as favorable as you can.

Ø Too sudden an ending may leave your audience puzzled; it is always a good idea to alert them that you are finishing. You can do this either by your words or by your manner of delivery.

DESIGN DYNAMIC VISUAL AIDS

Why should you use visual aids?

People are 43% more likely to be persuaded

You will tell the same story in 25-40% less time

Visual Aids - What To Do

To get the maximum impact, remember the most important rules for creating professional and impactful visual aids:

Ø Keep slides simple

Ø Have only one idea per slide

Ø Use key words, not sentences

Ø Average six lines per slide - six words per line

Ø Make visuals attractive - use color

Ø Use pictures, graphs & symbols instead of words and numbers when possible

Step 7

CREATE NOTE CARDS

Ø Very few speakers can give a presentation without the benefit of notes. Your notes should act as a foundation for your speech, providing you with the necessary key words. You know the material; your cards are there to help you stay on track and remember to present everything that is necessary.

Tips:

Ø Don't read straight from your notes!

Ø Take a moment to look at your notes to remember what you will be speaking about, then speak.

Step 8

OVERCOME ANXIETY THROUGH REHEARSAL

According to the book of lists, the fear of speaking in public is the #1 fear of all fears. Over 41% of people have some fear or anxiety dealing with speaking in front of groups.

Proper preparation and rehearsal can help to reduce this fear by about 75%. Proper breathing techniques can further reduce this fear by another 15%. Your mental state accounts for the remaining 10%.

First of all, the very best way to deal with nervousness is too practice. One of the most effective of these methods is practicing - rehearsing your presentation in terms of what you are going to say and show. There are three important reasons for why you need to rehearse:

Step 9

Estimate the Amount of Time

Do you know any techniques to estimate the amount of time to be spent on each point?

Timing

Timing in public speaking is one of the most important aspects.

Most presentations have to be delivered within a specific time frame. When preparing your presentation, write out your agenda and estimate the amount of time you will spend on each point. Now combine it with the time you will need for visual aids you want use. Remember, the guideline is:

Ø One visual aid for every 21/2 minutes of presentation.
