as if/ as though + Past Subjunctive

The Past Subjunctive после as if/ as though выражает невозможность, сомнение в выполнении какого-либо действия.

Не behaves as if it were his house. (But it is not his house or we don't know if the house is his or not)

He talks as if he knew where she was (But he doesn't know or probably doesn't know or we don 4 know whether he knows or not)

Why do you order me about as if I were your wife, (but I 'm not)

Глаголы перед as if/ as though употребляются в прошедшем времени, глагол в сослагательном наклонении при этом не изменяется.

Не talks/ talked as if he knew her name.

После as if / as though употребляется Past Perfect для выражения происшедшего или воображаемого действия в прошлом.

She talks about Paris as though she had been there herself.

Глаголы перед as if/ as though употребляются в прошедшем времени, глагол в сослагательном наклонении при этом не изменяется.

Не lookes/looked as though he hadn 'I had meal for a month.
