Education in Russia
An educated person is one who knows a lot about many things. I think it is very important that everyone should be educated.
In Russia school education is compulsory. Children begin studying at the
elementary school at the age of six or seven. They get primary education there: the basics of Reading, Writing, Maths and some other subjects.
From the fifth form the secondary education begins. Children study different subjects, such as Literature, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Computing, Foreign Languages and so on. When they complete high grades they can either continue to study at school for more 2 years, or go to a professional school where they are able to get some professional skills. Except general secondary schools there are a lot of specialised schools, where more attention is paid to a particular subject, mostly to a foreign language.
After finishing school or college young people may enter the institute or university to get higher education and get the bachelor's degree or the master's degree.
2. Unfortunately, our Russian education has a lot of problems. The main of them, in my point of view, are the following: lack of money for teacher’s salaries and new equipment for schools. Also the modernization of educational system is making students lazier. A lot of even young children are not interested in studying at all. I really hope that some of the problems will be solved soon.
3. It is not easy for me to study either but I have some favourite subjects at school. English is among them. I read English books in the original, try to translate some stories from newspapers. Sometimes I speak English with my friends after classes. I'm sure that today it's almost impossible to do without foreign languages
To study is not an easy thing, of course, but nowadays it is quite necessary to be a highly skilled and educated specialist.
