Application letter
Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to apply for an internship for Financial Analyst. The advertisement of it I have found on the LinkedIn website. I am a second year student studying International Business and Management at the Hanze University. The earliest date I can start working is mid-January, since I will go firstly for exchange to Haaga-Helia University of applied sciences in Helsinki.

Personally, I am a big fan of your company and the products you produce. It is very interesting to see how such a big and famous company operates inside, especially in a financial sphere. The listed tasks appealing to me, therefore it will be a great pleasure for me to bring some benefit to the company and gain priceless experience for myself.

All those benefits, I can offer, I gained during my studying years. My studying in Hanze consists of different team projects, however majority of studying time I have to work independently. During my studies I have become an adept user of Excel and gained analytical and problem solving skills with paying attention to small details. I left my home country and therefore had to start my life from scratch. Due to this I have developed my communication skills. Also, by combining sport activities and studying I have gained time management skill and self-organization. Furthermore, I speak Ukrainian, Russian and English fluently and I am on an intermediate level of German.

In case you need any additional information you can find my contact information in my CV. I am available every day from 10 a.m. till 9 p.m. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Dmytro Storozhuk

Interview reflection
During our CTD1 classes we were asked to make an interview with one of the classmates. This interview had to be recorded and handed in together with my portfolio. My partner for this task was Rick Flore. From the beginning we agreed that this interview has to be as natural as possible. Therefore, we did not prepare any questions and recorded video from the first try, since the real interview is going to be like this. You will not have second chance to give an answer to the question.
After recording an interview we exchanged our videos for feedback. When I received a feedback on my video, I started to watch it in order to understand why I got those feedbacks.
Rick did not assess my knowledge of the company, because we decided to make it more general and focus more on personality than company itself. For knowledge of my specific skills I received “good”. I think that it is not excellent because I did not explain it that good; I was very concise and did not use STAR method for answering those kinds of questions.
For my relevant education I got excellent. I think that my answers were clear and well described.
Relevant experience assessed as “good”. I think it is due to the lack of experience. My work experience is very limited, since I did all the same working tasks for few years. Moreover, it is not something I can apply for financial, managerial or marketing job. Therefore, in order to improve this, I need to attain some workshops and do some small summer internship. Thankfully to IBS program, I will have internship soon and I think that in next interview I will have “excellent” for my working experience.
My language skills were “good”. This is due to some grammatical errors and missing vocabulary. I know this problem and I am trying to improve my English every day by reading books in English and simply communicating more with international students.
My body language was “excellent”. While talking I was using gestures, eye movement and facial expressions. Therefore, this criterion is excellent.
Based on feedback and what I have seen I want to say that my strengths were:
-convincing answers
-good description of my ambitions
My weaknesses were grammatical errors and bad vocabulary.
In my opinion this assignment was very helpful. It was good preparation for real interview. Thankfully to this task I know what I have to improve in order to make good impression about myself.

Elevator pitch reflection
When the teacher announced this task during the class, I thought that it the worse task I ever did. Fortunately, the reality surprised me in a positive way. The process of writing the text of the pitch was the hardest task, but thankfully to previous assignments I did before, I already knew what skills I want to point out; I just needed to present them in a right way. While recording it I did not feel myself very comfortable, it was better for me to do it in front of the group, because I could somehow interact with audience.
After showing the video I did not expect to get many positive feedbacks, but it was better than expected. Classmates said that my story was strong and clear and that I know myself very well. However, language I used was not professional. Majority of feedbacks said that I demonstrated the ability to add value to a company. Also, they said that my pitch was concise. Classmates somewhat agreed that I showed clear insight in my personality, aware of my strengths, was visually interesting and presented in professional way.
This assignment helped me to understand what has to be improved and how to behave in a real situation, and “sell” myself in 45 seconds.
