The Song of Beowulf.

“Beowulf” is considered is epic poem because the main character is a hero, who travels great distances and wants to prove his straight against different monsters. The story tells of the time when king Hrothgar ruled the Danes. Beowulf comes to help Hrothgar in his fight against Monster Grendle. In a bloody fight Beowulf kills Grendle and after sometimes Grendl’s mother as well. Beowulf kingdom is terrorized by a dragon. Beowulf attacks the dragon and at first doesn’t win. But finally, he kills the dragon, but is mortally wounded and soon died. This epic poems tells of some events from the people’s history, the heroic dies of Beowulf and his self-sacrifice.

2. William Shakespeare, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark.

Hamlet is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written between 1599 and 1601. The play, set in Denmark, recounts how Prince Hamlet exacts revenge on his uncle Claudius, who has murdered Hamlet's father, the King, and then taken the throne and married Hamlet's mother. The play vividly charts the course of real and feigned madness—from overwhelming grief to seething rage—and explores themes of treachery, revenge, incest, and moral corruption.

Hamlet is Shakespeare's longest play and among the most powerful and influential tragedies in the English language, with a story capable of "seemingly endless retelling and adaptation by others."The play was one of Shakespeare's most popular works during his lifetime and still ranks among his most-performed, topping the Royal Shakespeare Company's performance list since 1879.

 

3. Jonathan Swift, Gulliver’s Travels.

Gulliver's Travels, a misanthropic satire of humanity, was written in 1726 by Jonathan Swift. Gulliver represents the everyman with his average intelligence and general good humor. Throughout Gulliver's voyages, Swift goes to great lengths to scrutinize, parody, and satire various aspects of human, and often English, society. Gulliver embarks on four distinct journeys, each of which begins with a shipwreck and ends with either a daring escape or a congenial decision Part of what has helped Gulliver's Travels to persevere since Swift's time has been its appeal to people of all ages

10. J. D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye.

The Catcher in the Rye, a novel narrated by main character and hero Holden Caulfield, is the story of Holden's life in the few days after being expelled from his Pennsylvania school. In The Catcher in the Rye, Holden's family, and the families of the boys with whom Holden attends school, appear to have no financial concerns. Holden's family lives in an expensive apartment in an affluent section of New York City.
