Ask a student, a volunteer hopefully, to leave the room. While that person is out of the room you and the rest of the class decide on something very unusual that could have happened while they were out of the room.

Then, the person who has left the room comes back in and asks each student in turn only one question and the full question is 'What would you have done if this had happened?'

And each student in turn answers in a full sentence for example, 'If this had happened, I would have bought some flowers'.Now, they mustn't mention the names of anyone involved because at the end the student who is guessing has to work out what happened to whom and, if they can't, you can go round again with new answers. [As this is for speaking practice, the students should use the contracted form for the conditional grammar - 'If this'd happened, I'd 've bought some flowers.']

Scenario Fashion sometimes gives people identity especially of wealth; there are people who look down at others by the type of clothes they wear and most of all the brand name.
Student 1 You and student 2 always keep up with the current fashion and constantly showing off new clothes. Student 3 and the teacher don't care about fashion and rarely buy new clothes.
Student 2 You and student 1start making fun at student 3 and the teacher for wearing last year's fashion. You both discuss how cheap their clothes are and that they have no dress sense.
Student 3 You and the teacher are not really poor and are quite well off, the reason why don't keep up with fashion is because there are more important things in life than fashion.
Teacher You believe that fashion is a waste of money and those who need fashion to give themselves identity is an indication of a lack of intelligence. An intelligent person does more with life than a person who worries about fashion.
Student 4 You don’t wear clothes because you don’t like it. You try to convert everyone to be a nudist like yourself.

Scenario Foreign travelers usually have to pay more for certain things because people believe that western people are richer. Why should bus fare be more expensive for foreigners than for local people. Or buying a product from the market cost so much more when you are a foreigner and it is hard to try to keep to a budget when traveling.
Student 1 You are the foreign traveler but you are a student studying in this country and you are not rich. You want to buy some souvenirs for your family. You are at a market because you can buy things cheaply so you want to buy some products from the teacher.
Student 2 You think you are good at haggling which means to bargain; you are determine to buy the products as cheap as possible. When the teacher makes the first price to be very high, you will make your price to be really low.
Student 3 You get angry very easily when trying to buy something and the shop owners are always trying to make you pay so much for them. You will actually swipe the teacher's products right off the table when he/she refuses to give you a good price.
Teacher You own a market stall and you sell all sorts of things from fake watches, cigarette lighters, laser pointers and other stuff that everyone is selling in that market. You see the students as a gold mine and you don't know they are studying and you think they're filthy rich business people. You want to bleed them dry and refuse to sell anything for what they're worth.
Student 4 You are a gangster who owns the market. You don’t like it that the tourists are making a lot of noise that everything is expensive. Make sure that they buy something. And leave already.

Scenario In many western countries, they have nursing homes; when an old person becomes dependent upon the family to be taken care of, they are sent to this place. Families often don't live with the grandparents and when they need to be taken care of, they don't want to do this. So they will put them into a place which is similar to a hospital and they will seldom visit the grandparent.
Student 1 Your life is too busy to worry about your father/mother for you to take of as he/she constantly needs help to go to the bathroom and other things. You really don't want the burden of having to care of him/her and just want someone else to take care of him/her because they are suffering from dementia, and they believe they are in the mafia.
Student 2 You are the wife/husband of the first student and you never liked living with your mother/father in law because he/she is always complaining about everything. You are really glad that your wife/husband is making this decision, because you are tired of your
Student 3 You are the grandchild of the teacher and you really love him/her but you don't understand what is happening. Your grandparent has told you that they want to recruit you into the mafia. You really like this idea. Why is he/she no longer going to live with you anymore? Why is mother and father sending him/her to this depressing place where you cannot do any business.
Teacher You are a REALLY Bad person who used to be in the mafia. You are arriving with your family to the nursing home but you weren't told that you will be staying here for the rest of your life. This is shocking; all of those years that you have supported your family by providing money and in return this is what they are going to repay you by - to live out the rest of your days in this dreary gray world surrounded by dying old people. Be very mean and tell them that
Student 4 You are a rocking-chair sales man. You need to sell 3 rocking chairs today, or your family will starve. You think that the nursing home is the best place to sell them. Try to sell them to everyone.
Student You are the main doctor of the facility – you try to solve all the problems.
Student 7 -You are a person who is at the nursing home. You have been long forgotten who you are and who are all these people. They are all bad – they experiment on you like those nasty aliens who have experimented on you in your childhood. You try to tell all the newcomers to escape this awful place.

Scenario Sometimes companies give jobs to those who are very attractive but usually jobs that are customer-service related such as receptionist. Though in this situation, a company has given the teacher a job as a paramedic because it deals with people. But the teacher maybe attractive but not very smart to be in this position.
Student 1 You are a car accident victim and you are bleeding to death that if you don't get medical attention right now, you will die. You must be screaming in pain and crying that you don't want to die.
Student 2 You are also a victim of the car accident but you are not seriously injured at all so you are comforting the first student. You notice that the teacher is not very good at this job and you criticise him/her for being so stupid.
Student 3 You are the second paramedic and also you are hired for being attractive so you also don't know how to do this job correctly. You don't know the names of the equipment and you get sick when you see all of the blood.
Teacher You arrive on the scene but the first thing you do is make sure your hair is right. If you are female than make sure your lipstick is on and make sure that you look good in the ambulance's mirror. You are also very worried that blood will get on your clothes so you don't want to get too close to the first student.
Student 4 You are a drug dealer who was in the car – you also believe that you can help – you have many drugs with you. Make sure to sell them before you use them.
