A: Hello Sasha!

A: I heard that you have just returned from England.

B: You're right. I took part in the exchange program between our school and New-Milton school.

A: Great! I'm going there this summer. And I am already preparing for it. For example do you know how big is London compared with other cities?

B: The UK is a small country compared with other, however London is the world's seventh bigger than Moscow, but only 7 million people live in London, by the way do you know where do people usually arrive when they travel to GB by air or sea?

A: They arrive in the Southeast.

B: Why?

A: For this is where the main passenger airports and ports are. Heathrow airport - one of the world’s busiest airports is about 33 km west of central London.

Port Dover is also in the southeast it connect Britain with Europe. Do you know are the main cities in the Southeast?

B: I know several historical cities Winston, Dover and Brighton. Brighton is the best know resorts in the Southeast. The country of Kent, which is known as the Garden of England is also situated in the Southeast. But the Southeast is also very attractive, do you know why?

A: I suppose that this place has romantic past and it makes it a popular place for artists, writers and holiday makers. Especially " Stone Hedge".

B: Moreover it is the region where the main activity is farming. Do you know that "Land's end" is also in the Southwest. Do you know why it is called that way?

A: I do! It is most westerly point of GB. And did you have enough time to visit East Anglia?

B: Of course I was in Cambridge. We saw ancient buildings of the university. This part of England is so beautiful it consists of miles of flat Land with almost no trees or hedges it is called Fens.

A: I heard that Oliver Cromwell was born in East Anglia. What do you know about him?

B: He was an English general in 16th century. He was the leader of the army against King Charles the 1st in the Civil war and later he became "Lord Protector of England". Do you suppose visiting midlands during your trip?

A: I do. the most important industrial cities are in the Midlands. They are: Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool. But I do not want to visit this big cities. I would rather go to Stratford-upon-Avon and Oxford. And do you know what is Stratford-upon-Avon is famous for?

B: Stratford is the birth place of the great William Shakespeare. I recommend you to go to the North of England here you can find deep valleys rivers and waterfalls hills and mountains/ Lake district is also here. And did you hear about Hadrian's wall?

A: No! But I would like to, please tell me!

B: It's a stone wall built across the North of England by the order of the Roman ruler Hadrian to defend the Northern border of Roman Britain from the Scottish tribes.

A: Thank to you I feel myself well educated person. And know what to see in England.

B: You know a lot, too.
