St Petersburg Forum [Scotland], St Petersburg Association for International Co operation, and Primera - International Art Association, invite St Petersburg senior school children 14+ on date of registration, to participate in a painting Competition based on the work of 3 20th century Scottish artists *Charles Rennie Macintosh (artist painter), Margaret MacDonald Macintosh (his wife) and Frances MacDonald (her sister)
(*Charles Rennie Macintosh is best known in worldwide terms as an architect and designer. However he is also a distinguished painter. It is this aspect of his work which is the subject matter of this competition)
Students should create a painting of their own subject matter in the ‘Style of’ one selected artist, mediums should be suited to the style of painting on Support size 40cm x 50cm.
Works will be judged by evidence of drawing skills, form, composition,
Brushwork, painterliness and of course use of Colour.
Information on the Scottish Artists can be found on the Internet, from books on the artists and libraries.

Competitors must be 15 – 16 years at the time of the competition. Each competitor will be interviewed by the judging panel prior to the competition.
The final will be judged by a panel made up from the party of Scots visiting St Petersburg during the ‘Days of Scotland’ in February 2012

Robert Burns World Federation Essay Competition 2012
The Robert Burns World Federation has set the following essay topic for 2012
'Forward thou I cannae see, I guess an fear' from Robert Burns poem – ‘To a Mouse’..
Entries will be accepted from 13 – 16 year old students on the day of the competition.
The competition will be judged by Helen Morrison, Isa Hanley and Stewart Houston of the Robert Burns World Federation
All entries must be received by 20th December 2011 to allow time for adjudication. Late entries will not be accepted and judged.
Winners will receive prizes, certificates and medals from the Robert Burns World Federation.
