Study this example situation:

She prefers to stay at home.
But she used to travel a lot.
She used to go away two or three times a year.
She used to travel a lot = she travelled a lot regularly in
the past, but she doesn’t do this any more.

If we say something used to happen we are talking about repeated events and actions in the past, usually things that happened a long time ago and are now finished. To express this we can use ‘used to’. | ||||||||
