Annotation. Varzuga is the river in the South of the Kola Peninsula. It flows from its Central part to the South. It flows into the White Sea. The Kola Peninsula is located in the Far North of Russia. Almost all of its territory lies above the Arctic Circle. Nowadays, the river Varzuga is constantly subjected to the strongest anthropogenic influence. As the result at the water mouth of the river Varzuga which is situated not far from Kuzomen village is developed sandy Heath. They arose as a result of a complex set of factors: deforestation, fires, overgrazing еtc. During this time they were shifting Sands with poorly developed dunes and scrubby vegetation. This disaster is known around the world. Since the late twentieth century to the present time, the efforts of foresters, scientists, students, pupils the movement of sands were almost stopped due to the methods of phytomelioration they became fixed. Foresters, scientists, students took part in realization of metods of phytomelioration, as well as the group of students under supervision by Pestova T.M.
