Скорочені форми:

‘m = am

‘re = are aren’t = are not

· Вживання.

Be вживається для отримання та надання інформації про людей та предмети.

My name is Maria. I’ m from Spain. Is Ken ready? No, he is n’t.

Скорочені форми: Don’t =do not Doesn’t = does not

· Після дієслова у стверджувальній формі закінчуються на – s/-es, наприклад:

I work – he works, you play – she plays, we finish – it finishes.

· При приєднанні до дієслів закінчення – s/-es інколи відбуваються зміни у написанні, наприклад: study – studies.

3. Вживання:

· Present Simple вживається для означення повторюваних та звичних дій.

I have a shower every morning.

Most evenings my parents stay at home and watch TV.

· Present Simple вживається для вираження постійних ситуацій (безперервних протягом тривалого часу).

Mr. and Mrs. Shaw live in Bristol.

· Present Simpl e також вживається для вираження загальноприйнятих істин.

The River Amazon flows into the Atlantic Ocean.

Vegetarians don’t eat meat or fish.

4. Питальна форма утворюється за допомогою допоміжного дієслова do/does та інфінітиву дієслова без частки to.

Do you go to the cinema very often?

What time does Kate finis h work?

- Коли who, what або which є підметами у питанні в Present Simple, то do/does не вживаються. Наприклад:

Who lives in that flat?

- Такі слова, як usually, often, every day, regularly, seldom, always часто вживаються з для означення регулярності дії, наприклад: I have a shower every day.

Exercise I. Вставте в пропуски слова з дужок і поставте їх в Present Simple.
