Student Applied Petroleum Technology Paper Contest

Almaty

April 14-15, 2012

The 8th International Youth Oil & Gas Forum will be held on 14-15 April 2012 in Kazakh National Technical University named after K.I.Satpayev.

The Forum will include following events:

• Presentation on the latest technologies of Oil & Gas Industry brought by leading companies’ representatives.
• Student Applied Petroleum Technology Paper Contest
• International intellectual contest «Oil Games»
• Exhibition
• Round table
• Role game
• Trainings and seminars brought by the professionals for the students

Student Applied Petroleum Technology Paper Contest

General provisions

1. Student Conference – Applied Petroleum Technology Paper Contest will be held on April 14-15, 2012. The venue is the Oil Building of KNTU, 22 Satpayev Street, Almaty.

2. The conference includes the following sections:

Ø Section I: Geology. Geophysics. Exploration;

Ø Section II: Drilling and Completions;

Ø Section III. Production and Reservoir Management;

Ø Section IV: Transportation and Storage of Oil & Gas;

Ø Section V: Petroleum Refining;

Ø Section VI: Petroleum Economics and Management.

3. Author(-s) can present not more than one project on the conference.

4. The work is represented by one or two students.

5. The mandatory requirement is the presence of a scientific adviser.

6. Working languages: Kazakh, Russian and English.

7. Thesis should be adjusted according to requirement 1 listed below.

8. Bachelor and master degree/graduate students of any country can participate in the conference.

9. For participating in the conference you need to fill an application form and to send to the address pointed out below; in the theme gap write your full name and the name of your university.

10. Selection of the applications and the best works will be conducted by leading professors of the KNTU and the oil companies’ representatives.

11. Speech time – 10 minutes. Time for questions – 5 minutes. A project must be accompanied with presentation (Microsoft Office PowerPoint)

12. It is necessary to send an electronic version of the report, thesis and presentation to the address (on CD-disc) or by e-mail not later than March 1^st, 2012.

13. Invitations to selected participants will be sent not later than the 30^th of March,2012.

14. Winners will be determined in each section:

· the best undergraduate student paper

· the best graduate student paper
