Nowadays, information systems and leading-edge technologies including e-commerce, e-business, and applications have turned into a principal component of effective organizations and profitable businesses. Therefore, they represent a vital field of study in management and business administration. The information system may be any combination of data resources, people, software, hardware, and communications networks that disseminates, collects, and transforms information in an operating business (O’Brien, 2004). Individuals have applied information systems in communications between each other using various information processing procedures and instructions, physical devices, stored data, and communications channels. Business specialists rely on different information systems that implement different information technologies. The latter term refers to the variety of hardware constituents required for the system to function (O’brien & Marakas, 2006).

The role of the majority of information systems was small until the 1960s: accounting, record-keeping, transaction processing, and several other applications such as electronic data processing. Later, another role adopted, as the notion of management information systems was conceptualized. This new role concentrated on advancing business applications that gave to managerial end users management reports, which would provide managers with the data they required for decision-making objectives.

There are three primary reasons for business applications of information technology. They take place in the three essential roles, which information systems may serve for a business enterprise. They involve providing a company with support for business decision making, operations and processes, and competitive advantage. Success in a modern dynamic business environment hinges on maximizing the utilizing of Web-enabled information systems and Internet-based technologies to comply with the competitive requirements of suppliers, customers, and other business co-workers in a world marketplace. Information systems and technologies should be managed in order to support the business processes, business strategies, and culture of a business corporation and organizational structures. Computer-based information systems, despite great dependence on information technologies, are used, designed, and operated by people in various business environments and organizational settings. Today, the goal of many enterprises is to maximize their business and customer value by applying information technology to enable their workers implement cooperative business procedures with suppliers, customers, and others.
