Who can give me the right answer? б)He was the first man who helped us. He lives on the third floor. в)It’s the most important thing for me.	Неозначений артикль можливий для вираження значення ще один: What about a thirdcup of tea?
4.	Іменник означає єдиний у своєму роді предмет чи явище: the sun, the moon, the horizon, the atmosphere, the world.	The Moon moves round the Earth. The Sun is a star. The sky was blue.	При наявності описового означення вживається неозначений артикль:We live in a big world. A strongwind was blowing.   Назви планет вживаються без артикля:Venus, Jupiter, Mercury. Можливі варіанти слова земля: Earth, the Earth, the earth.
5.	Іменник вживається в ролі обставини місця:in (on) the street, on the train, at the theatre.	Let’s meet at the library. I read a book on the train.	Неозначений артикль в значенні один з, якийсь. He was born in a small village.
6.	Перед субстантивованими частинами мови.	The old like to criticize the young. The English are very polite. The Dutch live in the Netherlands.
7.	Іменник вживається в узагальнюючому значенні і представляє весь клас людей, тварин, винаходи.	The elephant is a strong animal. The Periodic Table belongs to the Russian chemist D.Mendeleyev.Agatha Christie is the Queen of the detective story.	Іменник у родовому значенні вживається без артикля:Man can do everything. Much was written about man’sinhumanity to woman.
8.	В ряді сталих виразів: to be on the safe side(від гріха подалі), in the long run(в решті решт), to make the best of sth.(зробити все можливе), between the lines(читати між рядками), on the whole(в цілому).	Let’s call the police, to be on the safe side. Everything will be fine in the long run. He made the best of his career.	Запам’ятайте наступні вживані фрази:What’s the matter?-Nothing’s the matter. What’s the time? What’s the date? What’s the trouble? What’s the rush?
