1. The state symbols of the Republic of Belarus as a sovereign state are the National Flag of red and white stripes, the National Emblem and the National Anthem "My Belarusy".
Other than the national flag, anthem and emblem, Belarus has several unofficial symbols. The Cross of Saint Euphrosyne, a 12th-century relic which disappeared during the Second World War is considered a spiritual symbol of Belarus. The European bison is seen as a symbol of Belarus and the Belavezha Forest. It is also featured on the symbols of Brest Oblast. Another widely known mascots of Belarus are the stork and the cornflower.
2. The European bison, the white stork and the cornflower are said to be symbols of Belarus. They have been chosen as they represent the main qualities of Belarusians. We are as strong and calm as Eiropean bisons are. Our beauty is not eye-catching as that of the cornflower’s but you’ll never forget the moment you see the white stork for the first time.
