Douglas and Lucy.

Douglas was a student only three years ago. He studied languages at London University and he was the best student in his year. He didn't think of teaching as profession at that time, but after graduating he couldn't find a good job for quite a long time. So he tried teaching.

Now he's a teacher and he finds his work very interesting. He is young and full of energy and he knows his subject very well. The students simply love him.

When Douglas gets home, he tells his wife Lucy all about the students. She likes it, but sometimes she thinks that Douglas speaks a little too much about his work.

Lucy likes going to parties, but Douglas doesn't. Lucy enjoys talking to other people, having a good meal, listening to music and dancing. But Douglas thinks it's all boring. He says women talk too much, and he can't enjoy listening to music when other people are eating and talking. He only likes visiting his friends. They are teachers, too, and when they meet, they always talk about teaching problems.

Some time ago Lucy enjoyed these discussions and even took part in them. Now she thinks there are other interesting things in life, not only teaching.
