State influence:

1. Ownership type: Capital structure of OJSC Pharmacy Chain 36,6 is as follows: 44,25% belong to Investments Ltd (owned by the company founders Artem Bektemirov and Sergey Krivosheev), additionally as individual investors Artem Bektemirov and Sergey Krivosheev own 4,37% each, 25% of CIA International, and other minority shareholders. Moreover, Pharmacy Chain 36,6 owns 51.8% of shares of pharmaceutical company Veropharm that is among the five largest Russian pharmaceutical manufacturers.[55]

2. State support: state authorities monitor the company operations, proper licensing agreement fulfillment, conditions of storage of the goods and their sale, etc., so state regulations are necessary in this process. The company was secured by the state while attracting credit financing from Nomos bank (1 bln. RUR) in 2010.[56] After high debt ratio the company issued additional shares and when that didn’t help, it was subject to restructuring of equity capital.

Internationalization:

Country The company is operating domestically: there are 1005 pharmacies are currently under management in 29 Russian regions. It was founded in 1991; since then till 2008 the company was actively acquiring pharmacies (Dobry Sosed in Volgograd, Mega-style in Dmitrov, Pharmacy trade house in Novosibirsk, Bowl of health in Perm, Nebolit in Samara, Doctor Zelenkin in Sarov) and opening its own sites.

Internationalization: Maria- Ra is a food retail chain is one of the leading food retailers of Siberia. Company has strong positions in Siberian region. It plans to open up shops in some other regions of Siberia, but the company doesn’t have any internationalization plans.

Holiday

State influence: Company has several federal suppliers. The only influence could be the power of these suppliers over Holiday, but it is not significant.[57]

Internationalization: Holiday is a leading retail chain of Western Siberia. Supermarkets of the chain are presented in 5 Russian regions. Company doesn’t have any plans for internationalization.
