We are glad to welcome you to the training course “BeFRIEND Volunteering” and are looking forward to meeting you in Belarus.
About the Project
Context: While volunteering is widely acknowledged in developed countries all over the world as one of the tools to challenge people in taking action and understand the stakes at the local and global scale, the volunteer movement in post-soviet countries only starts gaining its place among other social activities. There are still many stereotypes about volunteers and often people do not understand the purpose and benefits of volunteering.
As a non-formal education and volunteer organizations, we believe in the potential of people to develop essential and indispensable skills by participating in various volunteer projects. Hence, by having a 7-day training course “BeFRIEND Volunteering” we’d like to give young people from EU and neighboring partner countries a chance to share their experience in promoting volunteer movement on the local, national and international level, to give them opportunity to create not only new volunteer projects, but to develop ideas for PR campaigns which will be later used to raise awareness of volunteering in local communities.
Aim and objectives:
Aim of the training course is giving the participants theoretical basics and best practices that are connected with the organization of volunteer movement for the sustainable development of non-governmental organizations.
The objectives of the training course are:
- learning how to use interactive methods of work in volunteering;
- developing the intercultural skills of the participants;
- giving the participants the competences and knowledge for creating and promoting volunteer projects;
- creating materials for further use in promoting volunteering.
Expected outcomes:
- sharing the best practices of promoting volunteering;
- further development of participants’ intercultural skills;
- increasing the level of participants’ skills on creating and promoting volunteer
projects;
- creating photo-projects that later will be used for promoting volunteering.
Methodology: The interactive methodologies that will be proposed during the training come from the non formal education. They foresee the active involvement of participants in each stage of the process and promote the horizontal exchange of competences. In this perspective various ice breakers, team building activities, energisers, simulations, debates and workshops are interactive tools to stimulate the active involvement of participants.
