Is faster better?

Technology has come a long way in recent years and it has changed our lives in many ways. We can touch a button or key and find out information on any subject from anywhere in the world. It’s amazing! (1) ___ We can make travel arrangements, buy and sell things, send and receive information to people, interact with our friends and even watch films and TV.

(2) ___ Experts believe that technology can cause us more stress instead of reducing it. Because we can get information so quickly, we are expected to do things faster and faster. (3) ___ Sometimes this is a good thing, for example when friends can get in touch. However, at other times it’s work or people we don’t want to talk to. (4) ___ People don’t sit and enjoy train journeys anymore. They’re usually working!

(5) ___ There are times when faster is definitely better. (6) ­___ We just have to be careful to take some time for ourselves, so that we are not too stressed to enjoy life.
