USE IT! There are all wonderful concerts going on. For good reasons this is one of the most famous Concert halls in the world. It’s acoustics are phenomenal. It has recently been refurnished and includes even a champagne bar. Buy tickets at the last moment around 19.00. Get a program! Go to the “UITBURO” on the Leidse plein nearby on the groundfloor of the Theatre. There you can see day by day programms of ALL activities in the whole city.

My tip: go there for non-collected tickets around 7 PM. A good chance you’ll get better seats than in pre-sales reservation. Also people may sell there tickets at the entrance. My experience is that you’ve always got a good chance.

The CAFE is good! go at any time for a soup, cold meat or cheese platter, a salad and great cakes. It’s nicely located on a corner behind large windows. You may get some last minute tickets from 7 PM and relax / wait in the cafe till the concert starts at 8.15 PM.

SAUNA

The interior of this neat sauna is taken from an Art-Deco department store in Paris. Whenever the weather is dull or cold; you may take advantage of this very good place. Book a massage in advance if you wish. It is on walking distance on HERENGRACHT 115 and open until 11 PM.

PRIVATE BOAT TOUR

You may call Edwin for a private boat tour through the canals. Edwin has got a large open barge. He is flexible when it comes to making out a day / time. He may collect you as close as at the Pulitzer Hotel across from the apartment. Call him yourself on [phone] For a private boat tour his fee is modest: 75 euro per hour. You may take yourself drinks / food on the tour or you may ask Edwin to take it with him and ask him at what compensation.

PRIVATE CHEF. In case you wish a dinner party to be organized at the apartment, you may use the services of DEZIREH. She’s an experienced chef and she also does a good presentation and table service. Her services have been a success. You may choose yourself how many persons are served. The minimum amount is from 400 euro including ingredients, preparation, service and cleaning. SUPERMARKET

There is an “Albert Heyn” around the corner; opposite the church, on “your side” of the church, just around the corner to the right, cross the canal when you come from the apartment.

A slightly bigger one, also from the leading supermarket chain “ Albert Heyn” is when you leave the building to the right, cross the ‘side-canal’ and then the second street on your right. You’ll see all sort of bronze statues; CROSS this street and you’ll find a wine store, on the right of it the supermarket and again on the right of that this THAI take away restaurant.

Both supermarkets are open till 10 PM / 7 days.

CINEMA

Each cinema has an update program of all movies shown in town at all cinema’s. You may also see all current movies online: http://www.filmladder.nl/ A magnificent beautiful / landmark cinema is TUSCHINSKY’S between flower market and Rembrandt square on Reguliersbreestraat. It is in opulent Art-Deco period style. The big mainstream movies in halls 1 to 4 are in the beautiful main building. Hall 5 and up are in a new / less interesting building on the side. A real nice movie theatre not too far from the apartment is THE MOVIES at this interesting / nice street called HAARLEMMERDIJK 161 (HAARLEMMER STRAAT = this nice street)
