GRAMMAR RULES A lot of – many – much (багато)

  Countable Nouns (обчислювальні іменники) Uncountable Nouns (необчислювальні ім.) Example
Positive sentences (стверджувальні речення) a lot of / lots of / many (багато) a lot of / lots of / much (formal) There are a lot of people in the room. There is a lot of sugar in my coffee.
Interrogative sentences (питальні) many (багато) much (багато) Are theremany books in the library? Do you have much time to do all the tasks?
Negative sentences many (багато) much (багато) There aren't many cakes left. I don’t have much time left.
  few (not many, not enough) (трохи) little (not much, not enough) (трохи) Few Englishmen speak Chinese. He has little success with his job.
  a few (=some) / very few (зовсім трохи) a little (=some)/ very little (зовсім трохи) A few students know French well. A little salt makes the dish tasty.

Present Indefinite (Теперішній час)

Present Indefinite is used for:


- long-term situations: She lives in Brazil.

- routine activities: She wakes up at 7 a.m.

- feelings and opinions: He likes her very much.

- facts, general truths, laws of nature: The weather is rainy in autumn.

- sport commentaries, narration: He runs and kicks ball.

- timetables, programmes: The train arrives at 8 p.m.


- is used with such time expressions: always, usually, often, seldom, sometimes, every day/week/ month/ year, on Mondays /Tuesdays, etc., in the morning / afternoon/evening, at night/the weekend.

POSITIVE (+) NEGATIVE (-) QUESTION (?) SHORT ANSWER
