1. Let’s talk about your school years. What stages of education did you take?

As for me, I started primary school at School № ….That was back in.... After primary school I continued basic level of education at the same school. After the 9th form I took entrance exams to the Lyceum of Borisov and, luckily, became a pupil of the lyceum where I continued secondary level of education. But my experience at School № … was one that I look back upon with lots of pleasure. I received as much as I wanted to get from the talented teachers that taught me there.

2. Does your school differ from any other school you know?

Yes, it does. The lyceum of Borisov is a specialized school which accepts children after the 9th form from 15 to 17years old. It was founded in 1991. It’s a two-storeyed building with spacious 25 classrooms, two sports gyms, well-equipped labs, two IT classrooms with 40 workplaces and a big library. There are more than 200 pupils in the lyceum. There are four classes which specialize in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History and Languages. The main thing about our lyceum is teachers and students plus their interaction and cooperation.

Give advice how to pass exams.

You should …

· listen to your teachers carefully.

· do homework for every lesson.

· learn material by heart.

· take good, detailed notes at the lesson

· get relaxed and you will answer exam questions more easily. Knowing how to relax is an essential skill if you want to pass your exams.

Tell your foreign friend about the exams you take at school.

Students in Belarus take four exams at the end of basic education. They are Maths, Russian, Belarusian and History of Belarus. At the end of secondary education they sit four exams- Maths, Russian or Belarusian, English and one elective exam. After passing the exams students get Certificate of Secondary education and have a prom party.

5. What do you know about schools in different countries?

What I know is that the school year in the UK runs from September to July. It’s divided into three terms and three vacations. All state schools in Britain are free. In public schools parents pay for education. Education is compulsory from 5 to 16 years. Children start primary school at 5 and continue until they are 11. At 11 most pupils go to secondary schools called comprehensive schools. Ninety per cent of secondary schools are mixed. At 16 pupils take a national exam called “GCSE” (General Certificate of Secondary Education) and then they can leave school if they wish. Some 16-year olds continue their studies in the 6th form or at the sixth form college. The 6th form prepares pupils for a national exam called “A” level (Advanced Level) at 18. Pupils need “A” levels to enter a university. Grammar schools are selective, they offer academically oriented general education. Entrance is based on a test of ability, usually at 11 (11+). Grammar schools and public schools are usually single sex schools and fee-paying.
