I. Words to be learnt:

II. Fill in the missing words and phrases:

I AM A STUDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY.

Let me introduce myself. My name is....I am... years old. I entered the University last autumn.

1) I finished secondary school in June 20.., so I am fresh from school

2) I finished secondary school in 20.., that is three years ago. Then I served in the Army (I worked at an office, factory, laboratory, library...). Last school-year I studied at the Preparatory Courses of the University.

The applicants had to take three entrance examinations: in... They were rather difficult for me, therefore I had to work very hard all summer and as a result I managed to pass the exams well (I was given two “fives” and one “four”). Some of us had to go through a special interview.

Now I am a student of the Gorky Urals University. I study at the department of …. I am in my first year. There are … students in our group. Most of them get a scholarship (a grant).

We study many subjects, such as.... We have physical training and medical (for the female students) or military (for the male students) training as well.

We have good lecturers and teachers; most of them are candidates of sciences, there are doctors of science too.

For example... reads a course in.... His/her lectures are very important and the students take notes of all of them; his/her method of analysis of the material studied may be used by us in our course papers.

I think that the key to our progress in studies is the regular attendance of all lessons and lectures.

One of my friends could not attend classes regularly – she was ill and missed many lessons and lectures. She is afraid that now she lags behind in her …. Nobody wants to fail in any subject during the period of our credit-tests and exams. Neither does she.

This term we have... credit-tests and... exams. I suppose we shall have a hard time. Therefore it is necessary to begin reading for the exams well before the examination time.... will be our examiner in.... They say he/she is very strict. All the students must come to the exams well-prepared and, of course, they must not forget their matriculation-books at home.

Now it is September – the first term has just begun, but I am looking forward to the time when we are through with our examinations. Then we shall have our winter vacations which last approximately a fortnight.

once a fortnight/ twice a week/ thrice a month/ four times a day– раз в две недели/ два раза в неделю/ три раза в месяц/ четыре раза в день
