SPORT
People of different ages all over the world are fond of sports and games. Fitness reduces the risk of different diseases and illnesses, makes you feel healthier, more positive and optimistic, helps you to avoid obesity and gives you strength, helps not to get tired easily.
Many people do sports on their personal initiative as a hobby (Some people do amateur sports and some are professionals). People practice a sport for a need to keep fit. Since our life no longer provides enough exercise we should include it deliberately (намеренно) into our everyday routines. All necessary facilities are provided for people: stadiums, sport grounds, swimming pools, skating rinks, skiing stations, football fields (pitches). Gymnastics is a part of children's daily activity in the kindergartens. Physical culture is a compulsory subject at schools, colleges…
There are indoor sports such as -- boxing, wrestling, chess, basketball, swimming, ice skating…
Outdoor sports are: downhill skiing, football, sailing, track and field athletics, tennis and others.
Professional sport is also paid much attention to in our republic. There are different sporting societies, clubs and complexes. Professional sport is an exciting creative sphere of hard work and competition.
An important attraction of sport is its competitive and challenging nature. Men have always wanted to prove who is the strongest, the quickest, the highest. In ancient Greece appeared Olympic games, they were held every four years. Now Belarusian sportsmen take part in the Olympics. The greatest achievements have been gained by M.Mirny, V.Azarenko. D.Domracheva, A.Gerasimena.
Except sportsmen important people in sport are: a coach, an instructor, a judge or a referee (in games).
Sport provides an opportunity for people to express themselves. It can provide a challenge (вызов). But sport is not just for participants; it’s for spectators too. Millions of people all over the world enjoy watching international matches and contests, and events such as the Olympic Games or the Football World Cup.
As for me, I can`t imagine my life without sport. I go in for swimming, jogging, cycling. It needs mobility, liveliness and much energy. It keeps a person in a good form. I have been swimming for a 5 years. I get a real joy taking part in competitions or a simply swimming with my friends. I do my training with great pleasure and hope to swim well as our best swimmers do.
Two years ago I took up karate and devote much time to it.
