8. 4. 1 The braking capacity for hump speed regulation device shall be determined through

calculations with certain safety margin as required by equipment.

The speed regulation device in the rolling portion of large and medium capacity hump shall adopt wagon retarder. For the hump connected with 16 and above shunting tracks, there should be one stage or two stages of spacing braking position. In case of two-stage spacing braking position,the total braking capacity shall guarantee that the speed for easy running wagon to roll to fouling post on easy running track after it is braked through one or two stages of spacing braking position shall be no more than 5 km/h when a train set is disintegrated by a pushing speed of 7 km/h under favorable wagon rolling conditions. 8.4.2 For shunting track using skate as braking or protective device, there shall be one section of straight track no less than 30 m before skate throw-off device, where the skates for the same track group shall be set basically on one cross section.

8. 4. 3 There shall be one section of straight track no less than 14 m before wagon retarder within shunting track and the effective velocity hump crest of retarder should be no less than 1. 3 m. 8. 4. 4 There shall be track benchmarks set at the vertical curve start point and end point of grade change point on hump top and in rolling portion,and at the position of main grade change points within shunting track as well.

8. 4. 5 The arrangement for equipment and production buildings in connection with hump shall meet following requirements:

1 It shall not obstruct the operating safety and watching of hump dispatchers.

2 The number and location of signal tower shall be determined according to demands of operation. When there is one signal tower, or the main signal tower in case of 2 and above signal towers,it shall be set together with the coupler operator room on hump top on the same side as position of release-coupler operator,its position shall ensure that operator can clearly see the running state of wagons on hump top,rolling portion and wagon retarder at spacing braking position from the control desk.

9 Passenger Station, Passenger Transport Equipment and Passenger Car Servicing Depot

9.1 Passenger Station

9. 1, 1 The allocation of passenger stations shall be determined in considerations of the city size, significance, district, passenger traffic to transfer and conditions of existing equipment for passenger transport, which shall be combined with urban planning and connected with urban traffic systems. Passenger stations should adopt through type layout diagrams (Figure 9. 1. 1-1,Figure 9. 1. 1-2 and Figure 9. 1. 1-3).

The passenger stations mainly for origination and destination trains can adopt the

layout diagram combined with through type and partial stub-end tracks. The passenger

station fully operating origination and destination trains located at the terminal of main

track may also adopt stub-end type layout diagram.

9. 1. 2 When section design running speed is 120 km/h and above, on double tracks the passenger stations passing through passenger trains should adopt the layout diagram with two parallel main lines through the certer (Figure 9. 1. 1-1). 9. 1. 3 The main line location in a passenger station with freight trains passing through

1 In a passenger station on double tracks, when passenger car servicing depot set between two main lines in a longitudinal manner, the two main lines shall be set on the outmost side opposite to station building and between No. 1 and No. 2 platforms respectively (Figure 9.1. 1-2); when passenger car servicing depot set in a longitudinal manner on one side of station building,the two main lines shall be set on the outmost side opposite to station building and between No. 2 and No. 3 platforms respectively (Figure 9.1.1-3).

2 In a passenger station on single track, the main line for freight trains passing through should be set on the outmost side opposite to station building.

3 In a main passenger station located in a large city,the main line for freight trains
passing through should detour passenger station or it should build a connecting line to
diverge freight trains.

9. 1. 4 The track number for parallel operation in throat area of passenger station shall be equal to the connected main lines, running tracks numbers of locomotives and train stock placed-in and taken-out.

9. 1. 5 A passenger station shall set or reserve locomotive running track and waiting track. If there are frequent operations of cars attached and dettached,it may set stabling track and platform for these operations.

9. 1. 6 The station buildings in a passenger station can be designed according to actual conditions into level-track type,above-track type or below-trackl type;in a large city,it may be designed into multi-storey tridimensional waiting room in combinations with urban planning and other conditions through economic and technical comparisons. 9. 1. 7 The effective length of passenger train arrival-departure tracks shall be determined by the lengths of passenger trains, no less than 650 m, the effective length of arrival-departure tracks to receive and despatch short-distance and small-groupage passenger trains and substitutive passenger trains during festivals may be shortened accordingly. The effective length of main tracks and arrival and departure tracks receiving and despatching freight trains in a passenger station shall be set according to the effective length of freight train arrival and departure tracks.
