3. 3. 1 The width from the center line of station track to subgrade curb shall meet the following requirements: it shall be no less than 3 m for the outmost track in a yard;it shall be no less than 4 m for the outmost track for train examinations in a yard,or may be no less than 3 m when ballast curb is adopted under difficult condition;it shall be no less than 3. 5 m for the outmost ladder track and plane shunting and lead track on the side for shunter to get on/off wagons;in wagon uncoupling section in pushing track of hump,it shall be no less than 4. 5 m on the side of uncoupling operation and shall be no less than 4 m on the other side.

3.3,2 Widths of the subgrade surface of single tracks such as connecting track, locomotive running track and triangle track, etc within a station; it shall be no less than 5. 6 m for earth subgrade;no less than 5 m for hard rock subgrade.

3. 3. 3 The subgrade standards for main track in a station or approach line shall be the same as those for main track in a section. Subgrade filler and degree of compaction for subgrade of station track shall be designed according to the subgrade standards for Class TJ railway, surface layer thickness of the subgrade bed shall be 0.3 m, and bottom layer thickness of subgrade bed shall be 0. 9 m,so the total thickness of subgrade bed shall be 1. 2 m.

3. 3. 4 When a station track and a main track share one common subgrade, the subgrade in a station yard shall also accord with the following requirements:

1 When there is no longitudinal drainage channel or leaky pipe or passenger platform or other equipment between station track and adjacent main track, station track subgrade shall implement the same standards as those of main stack in a station, the subgrade surface • 16 •

of main track shall be of triangle shape with a slope rate of 3%.

2 When there is a longitudinal drainage channel or a leaky pipe or a passenger
platform or other equipment set between station track and adjacent main track and there are
numerous arrival and departure tracks, the subgrade shall be designed according to
standards for main track within the range from main track center for 2 m wide outwards
and 1 : 1 side slope below subgrade surface, while the subgrade surface of main track shall
be of triangle shape with a slope rate of 3% and above. Subgrade of other station tracks
shall be designed according to standards for station track.

3 When a road within station is built in parallel with main track, its shoulder shall be
lower than railway shoulder for no less than 0. 6 m,under difficult conditions,it shall set up
drainage and safety protection equipment between them.

3.3.5 Various optical/electrical cable troughs for railway communications, signals and

power supply, etc., shall accord with the relevant requirements set forth in the current

national standard -.Code for Design on Subgrade of Railway (ТВ 10001).

3. 3. 6 Station subgrade surface shall be built with transverse slope inclining to the

drainage system. It may be designed into single slope, double slopes or hackly slope in

considerations with the width of station subgrade surface, requirement on drainage and

subgrade fillings and excavations. The transverse slope of the subgrade surface should not

incline to main track, and the main track surround the yard shall be designed as an

independent subgrade.

3. 3. 7 Transverse gradient of the subgrade surface and the maximum number of tracks on

a single slope may be determined by the requirements in Table 3. 3. 7.

3. 3. 8 Drainage system in a station yard shall be designed according to general plan in close coordination with local irrigation and drainage and sewerage systems. Reconstructed stations should utilize the existing drainage equipment.

3. 3. 9 The number of drainage equipment shall be determined by annual mean amount of precipitation in a district, catchments area in a station yard, types of fillers on subgrade bed surface, longitudinal/transverse sections of subgrade, discharge outlet and other factors.

3. 3. 10 It shall strengthen subgrade drainage design based on the actual situations within a station yard:

1 Arrival and departure tracks in passenger stations and those supplying water to passenger coaches and coach washing plant/servicing tracks in a passenger car servicing point.

2 Coach washer tracks within a locomotive depot.

3 The loading and unloading track, wagon rinsing track, ice supplying track and
domestic animals handling track with platforms within a freight yard.

4 Wagon retarder and throat area in a large station with track circuit.

5 Low-lying place formed by tracks under a hump intersection and untwining tracks.

6 Subgrade with poor drainage conditions in the reconstructed portion when a station is rebuilt.

3.3.11 In design of drainage system in a station yard, it shall make longitudinal and

transverse drainage equipment combine to each other in a close manner and waterways shall

be short and smooth.

3. 3.12 Transverse drainage equipment should utilize the bridges and culverts within a

station; when there is no bridge or culvert to be utilized, it may adopt transverse drainage

channel or drainage pipe.

3.3. 13 The gradient for longitudinal drainage equipment shall be no less than 2%o»or no

less than l%a under difficult conditions. The gradient for transverse drainage equipment

across tracks shall be no less than 5%o,and it may be decided according to actual situations

under especially difficult conditions.

3. 3. 14 The dimensions for cross section of drainage equipment within a station yard shall

be designed according to the flow of 1/50 flood frequency. When there are sufficient basis,

it may be designed by local flood frequency.

The bottom width of both longitudinal and transverse drainage channels shall be no less than 0. 4 m and depth should be no more than 1. 2 m;when the depth is more than 1. 2 m, its bottom width shall be widened accordingly.

3. 3. 15 When drainage equipment are located in shunting operation area, train examination area, loading and unloading operation area or the section for working personnel to go through, the drainage ditch or channel shall be covered by cover plates.

3. 3. 16 The intersection point of longitudinal and transverse drainage channels/pipes,the turning point and elevation change point of drainage pipes shall have manhole or catch pit.

4 Passing Station and Overtaking Station

4.1 Passing Station

4. 1. 1 Passing station shall adopt lateral type layout of parallel arrangement of up and down arrival-departure tracks, to be arranged according to Figure 4. 1. 1. It may adopt other rational layout diagrams under especially difficult conditions.

4. 1. 3 Where there is only one arrival and departure track in a passing station,it should be arranged on the opposite side of operation office for train receiving-departure.
