Description Web mining is the application of data mining techniques to discover patterns from the Web
List of functionalities FT04.05.01 - Ability to search the content available on the web, or the web pages already downloaded into a pre-defined directory FT04.05.02 - Ability to crawl the web in the pre-defined time intervals to index relevant pages and content on the web FT04.05.03 - Ability to tag content in relevant content categories FT04.05.04 - Allow user query for search to be performed on content available on the web
Implementation Notes Web mining involves:
  • Web usage mining - process of finding out what users are looking for on the Internet
  • Web content mining - discovering useful information from text, image, audio or video data in the web
  • Web structure mining - using graph theory to analyze the node and connection structure of a web site
Asset Recovery Intelligence System (ARIS) is a software tool developed by the International Centre for Asset Recovery (ICAR) in cooperation with the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units. ARIS is a tool that downloads documents on one or more targets (i.e., an individual or a company) from the public and deep internet, analyzes these documents using Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques and allows the user to interactively inspect the search results and extracted information.

Description Operational analysis uses available and obtainable information to follow the trail of particular activities or transactions, and to determine links between those targets and possible proceeds of crime, money laundering, underlying predicate offences or terrorist financing.
