This tittle truly puzzles. Is Christ really a dissenter of the establishment?

First it would be good to see what the word “dissenter” means. The word means the one who systematically and intentionally has the tendency to doubt. But this could not be said for an individual who is distinguished for his honesty, much more for Christ. For the person, who has the tendency to doubt every single thing, impertinently if there is a reason or not, there is no room.

After all these, the question is: How can a person, who lived 2000 years ago, doubt a contemporary establishment? Which is his relationship with contemporary times?

Instead for some other answer, I think of this: Maybe do we, by saying “Christ”, mean His teaching and not a person? Maybe it happens what was noted in the Middle Ages in Europe? Europe turned and borrowed cultural values from the ancient Greece.

This is not valid here. The Holy Scriptures were not written in order to give us a new teaching, let it be holy, but to give us a person, who according to Isaiah, would be “An Excellent counselor … a Leader of Peace”.

In His birth, the angel spoke about a savior and not about teaching. Christ himself says “he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit” (John 15:15).

The disciples preached about a resurrected Christ.

There are teachings, of course, like Christ’s Sermon on the Mount (the Constitution of the Kingdom of Heaven), but without having the ability to stand autonomously, by themselves.

So, where does He support His claim to be an absolute spiritual value that lives in every era and influences people so much? So what is He? A great initiate, a moral teacher, a philosopher, a social reformer? Is He a seducer? A lunatic? Or the truth? Maybe are we preparing to pelt Him with stones (with our words) like the establishment of His time?

It would be good to look at His credentials first:

a. The prophesies talk profoundly for Him

b. His teaching is unique

c. His miracles are unprecedented

d. His moral and spiritual grandeur is enormous

e. His resurrection with its many proofs is indisputable.

All these establish Him as an absolute spiritual value. They

raise Him to a unique spiritual authority that lives above space and time. He is the one who reveals God’s will for the human being and the world, and therefore for every establishment.

But what is an establishment? It is a standard order, which the circumstances imposed and definitely the human being created and contributes to its preservation. When this order was imposed, it could have been found necessary and can truly be, in order for life to exist. Moral, culture, spiritual, social values will be developed in it.

Those who deny the establishment, when they deny it, have

another order of things in mind, which if they impose, will become an establishment in its turn.

So the establishment can be good, unless contradictions, inherited or acquired, appear in it, which demand its change. It does not matter if the establishment is political, moral, religious or social.

We can remember lots of movements of such change (the French Revolution, 1821, the Communist and others).

But Christ is the dissenter of which establishment? Definitely not the political. Remember the phrase “my kingdom…” and the scene with the tribute (census). He is not the dissenter of the religious establishment, even though He controlled its representatives sharply. We know well that he yielded to the Mosair Law.

But He stressed this: The reason of the world’s misfortune is not a result of the form of tone or another establishment, but the human being’s defection from God. It is the establishment of sin. The world is not only what it seems. It is something else, which affects and against which every person must fight.

Christ himself by fighting it

a. obeyed to his father’s will and

b. was sacrificed for the redemption of the man.

So Christ doubts the willingly against God and sinful

establishment. The one that sides with the spirit of apostasy.

With the prevalence of the establishment of the evil, a false knowledge (a non-existence of God, soul etc.) instead of true knowledge was offered to the human being.

It offered him religious instead of a religion. But it did not offer redemption and salvation.

Do you want the results? Pollution, hunger, earthquakes, the nuclear threat, an energy crisis, destructions, violence, injustice, plunder, war.

All these “establishments” of the establishment are the ones that Christ doubts. He turns His attention to the cessation of all these. He proposes a solution. His own solution. The only life-saving solution, which does not accept doubt.

So the solution is found in faith. In faith and the appropriation of His crucified sacrifice.

That’s it! This is how the establishment of sin is beaten.
