Exercise 6. Translate the sentences into Ukrainian. Make up three sentences to illustrate each grammar peculiarity.

  3. Kitty’s mother would think it a dreadful bore if she asked her to call.

  6. Of course it doesn’t matter, it only shows how stupid they are, but it is rather funny when you think of all the people who used to come to our house at home that here we should be treated like dirt.

Exercise 8. Find out in the extract and write down:

- description of Charlie Townsand (pages 6, 8, 9,

- description of Kitty (pages 9, 16-17, 22-23)

What kind of people do you think they were and what made you think so?

 

Exercise 9. Using as many lexical units and grammar constructions from the extract as you can dwell on the topic: A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush (100-150 words).
