To be or not to be – that is the question! Global sport is big money and it may become the question of life and death. There is only one vacancy in the United States Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics Team. And this vacancy is going to be given either to Jessica Smith or Kelly Austin.

Scene 2

Келли – Hey! What are you doing?

Джессика – Hey! Just came to the training.

Келли – Are you busy tonight?

Джессика – No… Why?

Келли – Great! Cause I have something to tell you. Come to my place. Right after the training.

Джессика – Well… OK

Scene 3

Келли –Hey! There you are! Come in! You’re good…

Джессика –Hey! Glad to see you. What’s up?

Келли – You know… there’s only one vacancy left in our Olympic team. And only one of us is going to get it. Well, you’re my best friend and I don’t want to lose you for sport or money. I mean let our coach choose the best of us.

Звонок полиции маме Джессики:

Полиция - Excuse me? Are you Jessica Smith’s mother? Как зрители поймут, что это полиция?

Мама Джессики – Yes. Something about her?!

Полиция – I’m sorry, Mam, your daughter was found murdered yesterday. She was hit in her head. And we’ve got the witnesses.

ЯНА: Good morning!

СУД: Case # 803 on the murder of miss Jessica Smith is being examined today. The suspect is miss Smith.

Прокурор – The murdered was hit in her head with a blunt object.

Судья – Call the coach of the suspect and the murdered, please.

Прокурор – What can you say about the relationship between Kelly Austin and Jessica Smith?

Тренер – Kelly and Jessica were best friends. Since their childhood. But recently, because of the concurrence for the only team vacancy left they were competing severely.

Прокурор – Did any quarrels or fights take place?

Тренер – No, sir. Not that I know.

Судья –Call the witness Mrs. Fisher, please.

Прокурор - Mrs. Fisher, tell us who you are, please.

- I am Kelly Austin’s neighbour.

Прокурор Can you tell us what you saw, Mrs. Fisher?

Эллисон Фишер – Sure. I was walking my dog and at 21:25 I saw Kelly come to Jessica. When I was going back home I saw my neighbour Jessica draw a big litter bin on the ground. After a while the light in her room was off. And I got a bit surprised about Kelly’s disappearance.

Прокурор –Thank you, Mrs. Fisher. I have no further questions. As a result of searching Jessica’s home this blunt object was found. It is proved to be the instrument of crime. And this object belongs to Ms Smith. So Ms Smith is supposed to be the murderer…

Судья Kelly Smith has been found NOT GUILTY due to lack of evidence.

Scene 7

Мысли: Why? What was it all for?

How could I…(убить) My best friend…

What for?

Just for a damn vacancy in the team

Oh, Jessica… why… just can’t get her out me head…

The last scene (последняя сцена)

- Jessica?! You!! It’s you! Jessica! Safe and sound (цела и невредима)! [обнимает ее крепко] Jessica…

- Are you OK?

- Yeah, absolutely! [вытирает слезы] Come in…(проходи) Come on (Давай же)!

[входит и вдруг на кухне что-то мистически само собой падает (орудие убийства: кубок за ее лучшую победу) и разбивается в дребезги [настораживающая музыка]. Они переглядываются и идут на кухню]

- Увидела осколки кубка, с внутренним облегчением улыбнулась Oh it's just a vase (это просто ваза)!

- What? Isn’t it your greatest World Cup (но ведь это твой самый главный кубок мира)?

- no… well, yes – it used to be… (был когда-то) Don’t worry (не беспокойся) –my great litter bin (мой «великий» (большой) мусорный ящик) is just the right place (самое подходящее место) for the great Cup! (для великого кубка) …

- Kelly you’re starting to really frighten me!.. (Келли, ты начинаешь пугать меня)

- No… no… (да нет же…)

- Hey, what on earth is going on with you today? (что происходит с тобой сегодня?) Well, I always knew you were a bit strange but this… (я всегда знала, что ты немного странная, но сегодня…)

- (прерывает ее) Jess! [пауза, тишина, напряженность] I want you to know that… that… (я хочу, чтобы ты знала, что… что…) whatever happens…(что бы ни случилось) you’ll always be my best friend (ты всегда будешь моей лучшей подругой)! And… and… Nothing else matters… (и… и… все остальное неважно)

- смотрит на нее Kelly… you, too. Always. (Келли… ты тоже. Всегда.)

- [плачут] Yeah, I will... (да всегда) You know I always will… (всегда) Well, come on!!! (ладно, пойдем!!!) [включается динамичная, оптимистичная музыка] Let’s have some tea now (а теперь давай выпьем чаю)!! идут обратно на кухню
