1. Let`s talk about environment. People say that our planet is in danger. Do you share this opinion?

People`s activities have made a huge impact on the environment, but unfortunately, not all people understand it. There are many environmental problems, which are important today and all of them are interdependent. The most dramatic of them are water and air pollution, global warming, climate change, deforestation, ozone depletion, animals and plants extinction, nuclear issues.

2. What do you think people should do to protect the environment?

I`m sure, that people can help the nature. First of all, we should respect the beauty of nature, the Earth`s biodiversity and future generations, because there is no planet B for them. We also should reduce consumption of natural resources, emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, deforestation and human activities causing pollution of air, water, forests and soils. Besides we should recycle all used materials with available technologies.

3. What questions can you ask your British friend about measures that are taken to protect the environment in Britain?

What do you personally do to protect the nature?

How do you save energy?

How do you save water?

How do you protect rare plants and animals?

4. A friend of yours wants to develop a programme to protect the city where he lives. Give him a piece of advice.

In my opinion there are many things you can do to protect your town and to help nature. First of all you should use less water at home. It`s not difficult, for example if you take showers instead of baths or turn off the tap while you brush your teeth. You can also save energy and use public transport or bike instead of your car. Besides you can plant trees and flowers. As a result your town will be more beautiful and the air will be fresh and clean. Of course, you shouldn`t throw away paper, plastic bottles and glass. They can be recycled.

5. Green School of the Year contest is held in the country and you want your school to enter it. Give ideas for some “green events”.

I think it would be great to celebrate the Earth Day in our school. On this day pupils can build bird-houses and bird-tables. They can also pick up litter in the streets and in the parks of the town. Besides, pupils can collect old paper, tins and cans for recycling. They can also teach little children how to use less energy and water and respect the nature.
