VI. Change the following from direct speech into indirect:

2) “What is happening at home?” Kate asked.

3) “It’s stupid I must learn this, Mother,” Alice said calmly.

4) “Take it all down,” Papa said. “Salmon is expensive. Donaldson will give us at least half a crown.”

 

VII. Speak about Mrs. Keith and Mr. Reid.

 

VIII. Speak on the following:

1) What kind of boy was Robert at the age of 15?

2) How did Mr. Reid begin to take interest in Robert?

3) Robert and Kate were friends, weren’t they?

4) How did he treat Alison?

5) How did Robert find out that Gavin was sitting the Marshall too?

6) Why did Papa make Robert sell the fish to the fishmonger?

7) Why did Grandpa want to speak to the teacher?

8) Who do you think instructed Mr. Reid to keep the boy apart from the Marshall scholarship?

9) Mama didn’t want to help Robert either, did she?

10) Did Robert spend much time on his studies?

 

IX. Begin to fill in the characters’ sketch pages.
