I am concerned about Plato's work on the Republic about the " kidnap". At p. 57 it is quoted: "'Moreover,' I went on, 'we won't believe or tolerate the story about those horrific kidnap projects by Theseus and Peirithous, who were respectively the sons of Poseidon and Zeus". Three things interest me in this incipit: first, the line of genealogy established by the invocation of the weds "story", "kidnap", "projects", "believe", "horrific", "respectively" and the proper nouns "Zeus" and "Poseidon" being them recognized nouns in my reading. Why would an author speak out (in Socrates as character of Plato) about his knowledge of proper familial names in relation to my knowledge?
