The Preparation of Hydroxy (Methoxy) Iminoacetic and Hydroxamic Acids and their Complexation with Transition Metal Ions.

Objectives

Oximes and N-hydroxyamides carboxylic acids are the ambidentates ligand systems that are interesting objects for analytical and coordination chemistry. They are effective complexing agents for transition metal ions. Depending on the nature of substituent in α-position to the N-hydroxyimide group as well as the properties of the central metal ion, they can be a part of the complexes such as O,O- and/or O,N-donor ligands. These ligands form a water-soluble chelate complexes, which are stable in neutral medium. The complex formation prevents the hydrolysis of metal salts in physiological environments and facilitates penetration of metal ions through the cells membrane of living organisms. Therefore, these complexes may be of interest as biologically active substances.

 

Research goals

¾ The synthesis of oximes and N-hydroxyamides carboxylic acids of aliphatic and heterocyclic series and selection of functional chelating groups for generation of polydentatecomplexing agents.

¾ The determination of factors that affect the composition, structure and physicochemical properties of complexes obtained.

 

Expected results

The complexing ability of ligand systems, wich depends on the location of donor atoms of the functional groups, the nature of the metal atom and reaction conditions, will be investigated (not a result). Use We will show that ……
