Девять дней на исходе лета – с 20 по 28 августа в Петербурге пройдет VII Международный фестиваль короткометражного кино и анимации OPEN CINEMA. Седьмой по счету форум предлагает грандиозную программу – фестиваль станет местом встречи творческих идей кинематографистов, работающих в России, странах Азии, Западной Европы, Скандинавии, на Балканах и в Латинской Америке.

At the end of summer – from 20^th till 28^th August in St. Petersburg The 7^th International Short and Animation Film Festival OPEN CINEMA will take place. The seventh forum offers a great program: the festival will become a meeting place of filmmakers, working in Russia, countries of Asia, Western Europe, Scandinavia, Balkans and Latin America.

Мы искали кино, способное удивить, поставить под сомнение сложившиеся стереотипы, способное зарониться в памяти; кино, которое бросает вызов и пленяет воображение; кино, которое дает возможность взглянуть на вещи в новом ракурсе, предлагает неизбитые эстетические подходы и раздвигает границы нарратива; кино деликатное и поэтичное – оно не спешит, размышляет терпеливо, любовно и уважительно по отношению к своим героям; кино, которое умеет скромно возвышаться над законами жанра, умеет быть исключением – то, которое безусловно засверкает на большом экране.

We were looking for the movies which would be able to amaze, to break the stereotypes, which will remain in memory. The movies that challenge and fascinate; the movies that give an opportunity to look at things from a new side, offer creative aesthetic methods and expand the boundaries. The movies which are delicate and poetic – they don’t hurry, ponder with patience, love and respect to their characters. The movies that can tower modestly over the laws of the genre, can be an exception – the one that will sparkle on the silver screen.

Программа open-air – энергичная, новаторская и масштабная – пожалуй, так можно коротко аннотировать двухдневный open-air на пляже Петропавловской крепости, где по фестивальной традиции марафон короткометражных фильмов пройдет в сопровождении культурной программы.

The open-air program is large-scale, energetic and innovative – this is how we can briefly annotate the two-days open-air on the beach of Peter-and-Pauls’ fortress, where the short film marathon, accompanied (supported?) by a cultural program, will be traditionally held.

В субботу, 20 августа, OPEN CINEMA-2011 идет на взлет под звуки «AEROKRAFT» – это музыкально-оптическое представление, авторами и действующими лица которого стали Николай Гусев (синтезатор, вокал, группы «Странные Игры», АВИА, НОМ), Андрей Сизинцев (электронная перкуссия, Русский инженерный театр «АХЕ») и Андрей Гладких (видеоряд, кинорежиссер). Проект, рассчитанный на открытое пространство, специально подготовлен к открытию фестиваля.

On Saturday, the 20^th of August, the OPEN CINEMA-2011 takes off to the accompaniment of ‘AEROKRAFT’ – the musical and optical performance, specially prepared for the festival’s opening.

В воскресенье, 21 августа, Петербург станет свидетелем рекордного по продолжительности анимационного нон-стоп показа на пляже Петропавловки. В программе – феерический перформанс «Границы купания» от POEMA Theatre, а также «ОКЕАН МУЛЬТФИЛЬМОВ» для детей и взрослых.

On Sunday, the 21^st of August, St. Petersburg will become a witness of the animation non-stop

show, record-breaking because of its duration. In the program there are fabulous performance by POEMA Theatre and ‘THE OCEAN OF CARTOONS’ for children and adults.

Кинотеатр «Аврора» и киноцентр «Мираж-Синема на Петроградской» с 22 по 28 августа станут официальными площадками OPEN CINEMA. «Аврора», кинозал с почти столетней историей, по всеобщему признанию – один из лучших в Петербурге – впервые примет зрителей как место проведения фестиваля. Именно там и пройдет церемония закрытия OPEN CINEMA 2011, намеченная на 27 августа.

The cinema centers ‘Avrora’ and ‘Mirage-Cinema on Petrogradskaya’ from the 22^nd till the 28^th of August will become the official areas of the OPEN CINEMA. ‘Avrora’, the cinema with almost centenary history, one of the best in the city, will hold the festival for the first time. It is where the ceremony of closing the OPEN CINEMA 2011 will take place on August, 27^th.

Из 800 короткометражных лент, присланных на конкурс в этом году, в соревновании примут участие больше сотни фильмов.

From 800 short films sent to the competition, more than a hundred will participate in the contest.

Большой конкурс (Main competition) по традиции будет проводиться в четырех категориях: игровое, анимационное, документальное и экспериментальное короткометражное кино. Представлены фильмы со всего мира, многие из которых уже успели удостоиться престижных фестивальных наград. В нынешнем году как никогда пристальное внимание обратили на себя режиссеры из Франции. За главный приз Open Cinema – символические песочные часы «Управляй временем» – в Большом конкурсе будут бороться больше полусотни участников.

The Main competition will be traditionally held in four categories: live-action, animation, documentary and experimental short film. There presented films from every corner of the world, a lot of them were already honored with prestige festival awards. In this year directors from France are in the spotlight. There will be more than fifty participants in The Main competition, contending the first prize of the OPEN CINEMA – symbolic sand glass ‘Manage Time’.

Параллельный конкурс (Parallel competition) кинофестиваля OPEN CINEMA из года в год вызывает не меньший интерес, чем основное соревнование. Тематические номинации «Другие берега» /кино далеких географических и культурных берегов/, «Без анестезии» /кино без купюр и политкорректности/ и «Большие надежды» /жанровое многообещающее кино/ - во многом определяют почерк, стиль и характер OPEN CINEMA. Картины, отобранные в Параллельный конкурс, концентрируют в себе экстравагантные идеи – как смысловые, так и художественные. Наградой за старания авторов в этом году станут малые песочные часы.

Year by year the Parallel competition of the OPEN CINEMA attracts as much attention as the Main competition. Subjects of nominations are ‘Other Lands’ (the cinema of distant geographical and cultural shores), ‘No Anesthesia’ (unexpurgated cinema with no political correctness) and ‘High Hopes’ (genre promising cinema) - determine the nature and style of the OPEN CINEMA in many respects. The films selected (chose?) for the Parallel Competition, store (?) extravagant ideas inside – both sense (semantic?) and artistic.

Специальные показы (Special screenings) OPEN CINEMA 2011 не обойдутся без тех, кого называют «азиатскими тиграми» – авторов из Таиланда, Южной Кореи и Сингапура. Насыщенную подборку анимационных фильмов представит главная прокатная компания короткометражного кино Юго-Восточной Азии «OBJECTIFS FILMS», известная по прошлому году блестящими ретроспективами фильмов режиссеров Адитьи Ассарата и Ройстона Тэна в программе «Азиатский синдром».

The Special screenings of the OPEN CINEMA 2011 will not go without ones who called ‘Asian tigers’ – authors from Thailand, South Korea and Singapore. The vivid variety of animation films will be presented by the main short film distribution company of Southeast Asia ‘OBJECTIFS FILMS’, famous by brilliant retrospectives of Aditya Assarat and Royston Tan films in the ‘Asian syndrome’ program.

Полная ретроспектива фильмов Дэниела Маллого (Daniel Mulloy complete retrospective) станет поклоном в адрес заслуженного Западного мэтра короткометражного жанра, режиссера обладателя наград международных фестивалей в Мельбурне, Гамбурге, Оберхаузене, Кракове, Клермон-Ферране и Эдинбурге (более 70 мировых наград ведущих кинофестивалей). Даниель Малой дважды был удостоен Премии Британского Независимого Кино (British Independent Film Awards), нескольких премий БАФТА (BAFTA – The British Academy of Film and Television Arts), а также был номинирован на Европейского «Оскара». В 2008 году английский режиссер был удостоен специальной награды OPEN CINEMA за игровую картину «Сын». На сей раз фестиваль подарит зрителям и критикам уникальную возможность ближе познакомиться с творчеством автора.

Daniel Mulloy complete retrospective will be a bow addressed (?) to distinguished eastern master of the short film genre, the winner of international festivals in Melbourne, Hamburg, Oberhausen, Krakow, Clermont-Ferrand and Edinburgh. Daniel Mulloy was honored with British Independent Film Awards prize twice, several BAFTA prizes, and also was nominated for European Oscar. In 2008 English director was awarded to the special OPEN CINEMA prize for the live-action film ‘Son’. This time, the festival will give viewers and critics the opportunity to become acquainted with the work of the author.

За исключением анимации и документального кино, российское короткометражное кино в конкурсной программе представлено малочисленно: всего несколько лент в Параллельном конкурсе. Однако фестиваль, как и в прошлом году, в стремлении поддержать режиссеров-соотечественников, отобрал достойные работы в специальную неконкурсную программу «Резидент.ру» (“Resident.ru”).

Except for the animation and documentary films, the Russian short films in competition program are little (?) presenteds: a few films in (at) the Parallel competition. However, to support directors-countrymen (?), the festival collected the decent works into a special program out of competition ‘Resident.ru’

Международный неконкурсный блок фестиваля – «ПАНОРАМА 360» (International non-competitive section “PANORAMA 360”) – особая часть OPEN CINEMA. Если Петербург нередко сравнивают с окном в Европу, то, проводя параллель, можно сказать: кинофестиваль – тоже окошко, но уже в мир иных культур. Программа насчитывает почти десяток участников – это влиятельнейшие международные форумы со всех континентов. Среди них Гонконг получил статус «специального гостя»:

The international non-competitive section ‘PANORAMA 360’ is a special part of the OPEN CINEMA. If St. Petersburg is often compared with a window to Europe, then, drawing a parallel, it is possible to say: the film festival is also a window, but to the world of other cultures. The program numbers almost ten participant – these are the most authoritative international forums from all the continents. Hong Kong got (?) the ‘Special guest’ status among them:
