The European Forum of LGBT Christian Groups is looking for a
PROJECT MANAGER (50%)

“Advocacy for LGBT human rights in European institutions”

 

 

Would you enjoy the challenge of working at the intersection of faith and politics?

Are you experienced in advocacy within a non-governmental organization?

Do you have a proven track-record of work within and understanding of a faith context?

 

The European Forum of LGBT Christian Groups is an ecumenical network of 46 member groups from 22 countries. We offer you an exciting opportunity to work with the European Forum of LGBT Christian Groups to develop our advocacy work for LGBT rights within both political and faith contexts and to increase our organizational capacities. The European Forum is looking for an experienced and professional project manager on a flexible basis (18 hours per week).

 

The successful candidate we are looking for:

· has good networking and interpersonal skills;

· has advocacy experience within the frame of the Council of Europe, other European institutions or within a national NGO;

· has sound knowledge in the field of LGBT human rights;

· is able to communicate well in both written and spoken English and French;

· is sympathetic to the aims of the European Forum, and has a passionate interest in politics;

· has experience in working under his/her own initiative to strict deadlines;

· is aware of confidentiality requirements of the work.

 

Additional qualities and experience that would be an advantage:

· Experience in fundraising and writing grant-applications

· Commitment to ecumenical work within a Christian context

· An understanding of religious politics and dialogue with church leaders

· Additional language skills.

 

Tasks

· To set up an office in Amsterdam

· To implement the advocacy project for LGBT human rights which includes e.g. monitoring and reporting on the Religious Right in Eastern European countries as well as developing an advocacy strategy and policy papers related to the Council of Europe

· To initiate dialogues with international Church bodies

· To lobby at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg and other European institutions and to present the European Forum’s case for recognition and acceptance of LGBT rights

· To represent the European Forum in other European institutions

· To co-operate closely with the board and the project group of the European Forum

Location work base: Amsterdam, the Netherlands (the office of the COC Netherlands)

Salary range: dependent on experience – circa € 2000 brut salary a month for 18 hours per week (= 50%).
