1. What have you learned from the topic/s?

From this chapter I have learned how it’s an important to organize information from my textbooks, and three different methods of consolidating information such as: Outlining, Summarizing, Mapping. I’ve learned that outlining must show the relative importance of ideas and relationship between ideas. Besides, I have recognized that I should use it when I read books, which are not mine, and when I am reading difficult materials, it helps me see connections. Also, I have learned that I should use outlining when I do exam, read literature or laboratory experiments and demonstrations. Likewise, in this lecture I have understood that mapping is a visual method of organizing information. It involves drawing diagrams to show how ideas or concepts are associated.

Students with visual learning styles often prefer mapping.

2. How can you apply what you’ve learned in real-life situation or what would be the practical application of the things that you’ve learned?

After this lecture, i'm sure that i wouldn't waste a lot of time to read difficult books or reference books, because of outlining. Also, Mapping would be very helpful for me, because i'm a visual learner, so i will remember it easily when i use mapping. Another useful thing is summarazing, which is important for essay exams, reading literature, and for collateral reading assignments. So i will be confident at the essay exams. I think knowledge from chapter 16 is helpful for students who studies at the university, at high school, college. Because students will have lots of exams, and to use their time wisely, they should know about outlining and mapping.
