Southern part of the channel

6.23.

From SSW and a position E of Karang Larabe (3°32'S, 107°10'E) the route to a position W of Pulau Kasenga (3°03'S, 107°21'E) leads N for a distance of 30 miles, passing:

E of Karang Pasir (3°29'S, 107°10'E), a small drying

sandbank; clear of three dangerous wrecks (two showing masts) which lie 3,5,7 and 8 miles E respectively, from Karang Pasir, thence E of Karang Tengah, another small sandbank, thence: E of Pulau Simedang (3°19'S, 107°13'E), an island covered with tall trees, which should be passed at a

distance of at least 6 miles. Pulau Simedang Kecil, an islet, lies 8 cables NE. Thence clear of a reported rock (3°10'S, 107°19'E), the position of

which is approximate, thence W of Pulau Kasenga (3°03'S, 107°21'E), the W island of Pulau-pulau Lima, a group of islands surrounded by coral reefs with narrow and deep passages between the islands lying 6 miles S of light Pulau Mendanau.

Northern part of the channel

6.26.

From a position W of Pulau Kasenga (3°03'S, 107°21'E), the route through the N part of the strait continues N to a position E of Pulau Gelasa (2°25'S, 107°05'E), a distance of approximately 38 miles, passing E of Pulau Geresik (3°00'S, 107°16'E), a densely populated, low, thickly wooded island, thence W of Tanjung Ayerlancur (2°53'S, 107°20'E), a high, blunt point and E of Karang Pandan, a steep-to coral reef, lying 8 miles W of Tanjung Ayerlancur. Thence W of Malangwangkang (Malang Wankang), a rock, close W of Pulau Langir (2°48'S, 107°22'E), a rocky islet, thence clear of Beting Akbar (2°39'S, 107°15'E), a small steep-to shoal, it is very dangerous, as it is not marked by discolouration and soundings give no warning. A dangerous wreck lies 7,5miles NNE of the shoal, and a stranded wreck, the position of which is approximate, lies 4,5miles NE of Beting Akbar. Thence W of a reported drying patch (2°29'S, 107°25'E), the position of which is approximate, thence E of Pulau Gelasa (2°25'S, 107°05'E), a thickly wooded island. Batu Gelasa, a bare rock, lies 1 mile W of the island.

3) по проливу Дуриан, к западу от архипелага Линга и по проливу Берхала; этот путь называется Внутренним путем (Inner Route);

4) по проливам Риау и Пенгелап, а затем к западу от архипелага Линга и по проливу Берхала;

5) по внешнему пути, т. е. к востоку от архипелагов Риау и Линга.
