Card 1. Task III Student A: Summer session is approaching. You scraped through your Speech Practice exam in winter, and now you want to get a better mark. Ask your groupmate for advice how to get ready for your English exams (in Speech Practice and Phonetics). Card 1. Task III Student B: You sailed through your Speech practice exam in winter. Your groupmate who was less successful in Speech Practice exam asks you for advice how to get ready for his/ her English exams in summer (in Speech Practice and Phonetics).
Card 2. Task III Student A: You are shopping for new clothes for the summer. You aren’t sure what exactly you want.     Card 2. Task III Student B: You are a shop-assistant who is helping the customer to choose clothes for summer wear.    
Card 3. Task III Student A:Your Internet friend from the USA wants to visit Belarus and asks you which season is the best for him/ her to come. Discuss the entertainment program as well.   Card 3. Task III Student B:You are from the USA and want to visit your Internet friend in Belarus. Ask him/ her which is the best season for your visit and discuss the entertainment program.  
Card 4. Task III Student A: You are going on a picnic. Persuade your friend to join you, make a shopping list together and decide where you will buy what you need. Card 4. Task III Student B: Your friend invites you to go on a picnic with him/ her. Accept his/ her offer, discuss a shopping list with him/ her and decide where you will buy what you need.
Card 5. Task III Student A: You bought a new pair of jeans yesterday but at home you discovered that something was wrong with them. Go back to the shop and try to solve the problem. Card 5. Task III Student B: You are a shop assistant. A customer wants to return a pair of jeans. Try to solve the problem.  
Card 6.Task III Student A:You complain to your groupmate about some activities in your English classes, you think they are boring and useless. Card 6. Task III Student B:Your groupmate complains about some activities in your English classes which he/she thinks are boring and useless. You disagree because you think that all activities are useful.  
Card 7. Task III Student A: You’re on a diet and refuse some dishes the waiter/ waitress recommends you. Choose and order the dishes that suit you.   Card 7. Task III Student B: You are a friendly and polite waiter/ waitress. Help the customer who is on a diet to choose dishes suitable for him/ her.
Card 8. Task III Student A: You are staying at your friend’s place over the weekend. Your friend’s mother is discussing meals with you. You tell her about your favourite food and mealtimes.   Card 8. Task III Student B: Your daughter’s/son’s friend is spending the weekend at your place. You are discussing meals with her/him. You want to know her/his favourite food, mealtimes etc.  
Card 9. Task III Student A: You want to buy Christmas presents for your family but you don’t know a good shopping place in Minsk. Ask your groupmate for advice.   Card 9. Task III Student B: Your groupmate is not from Minsk and asks you to recommend him/ her a good place for shopping in Minsk.  
Card 10. Task III Student A: It is your friend’s birthday. You are having a festive dinner. The friend treats you to various dishes, you like them very much. You compliment on the way she/he cooks and she/he shares the recipe for the dish she/he likes best.   Card 10. Task III Student B: It is your birthday. You are having a festive dinner. You treat your friend to various dishes, she/he likes them very much. She/he compliments on the way you cook and you share the recipe for the dish she/he likes best.  
Card 11. Task III Student A: Your sister is a spendthrift. She has just bought a new handbag though she has quite a lot of them. You are angry because you were planning to spend this money on a good dictionary. Card 11. Task III Student B: You are a spendthrift. You have just bought a new handbag though you have quite a lot of them. Your sister is angry because she was planning to spend this money on a good dictionary.  
Card 12. Task III Student A: You have chosen a nice dress/ suit. It is rather expensive. You’re in two minds about buying it.     Card 12. Task III Student B: You’re a shop assistant. You’re trying to convince a customer to buy a dress/ suit, the customer is hesitating whether to buy it or not.  
Card 13. Task III Student A: You’re having a meal in a restaurant with your friend. You like everything (the atmosphere, the food, the service, etc). You want to give the waiter a big tip, discuss it with your friend. Card 13. Task III Student B: You’re having a meal in a restaurant with your friend. You are in a bad mood and everything seems wrong to you (the atmosphere, the food, the service, etc). Your friend wants to give the waiter a big tip but you don’t agree.  
Card 14. Task III Student A: Your roommate and you are discussing the place for his/her birthday party. You suggest going out to a cafe.     Card 14. Task III Student B: Your roommate and you are discussing the place for your birthday party. You suggest having a party at home.  
Card 15. Task III Student A: You are doing your first year at the linguistic university. You find it hard to study here. Share your problems with your groupmate who is the best student in your group. Ask her/him for advice. Card 15. Task III Student B: Your groupmate finds it hard to study at the linguistic university. She/he is sharing her/his problems with you. You are the best student in the group. Give her/him some advice.  
Card 16. Task III Student A: You are a student. You are too busy to take care of what you eat. The exams will begin soon and you are feeling unwell (stomachache, exhaustion, sleeplessness etc.) and have gained a lot of weight. You need a doctor’s advice. Card 16. Task III Student B:You are a doctor. Your patient is a student who has been feeling unwell recently. The reason may be his/her unhealthy eating habits. Ask him/her about his/her diet and recommend a healthy eating plan.
Card 17. Task III Student A: You are getting ready for your exam in linguistics and still have a lot to revise. You drink coffee all the time not to get sleepy. Your friend calls you and invites you for a walk, but you think it is a sin to go out when you have so much to study. Card 17. Task III Student B: You are getting ready for your exam in linguistics. You decide to make a break, so you call your friend and invite him/her to go for a walk. You know how to avoid stress while getting ready for exams. Share your knowledge with your friend.  
Card 18. Task III Student A: The weather looks promising. At last you can spend a weekend out of doors. You call your friend and invite her/him out.   Card 18. Task III Student B: You have been looking forward to the coming weekend to catch up on homework and the things you haven’t done during the week. Your friend calls you and invites you out.
Card 19. Task III Student A:You are a second-year student at MSLU. You have made good progress in English due to hard work. You meet your friend who has just scraped through his/her first exam in English and is upset about it. Give him/ her advice how to improve his/ her English. Card 19. Task III Student B:You are a freshman at MSLU.You have passed your first exam in English. You‘ve got a low mark and you are upset. You meet your friend who is a second-year student and is doing well in his/ her studies. Ask him/her for advice how to improve your English.
Card 20. Task III Student A: You are a school-leaver and want to apply to MSLU. You meet a first-year student of this university who comes to his/ her native place to see his/ her family. Ask him/ her about the University and his/ her studies there. Card 20. Task III Student B: You’re a first-year student at MSLU. You visit your native place and meet your former schoolmate who wants to apply to MSLU this year. Answer his/ her questions about your University and your studies here.
