B) Read the dialogue again, find all sentences in the Past simple with regular and irregular verbs & try to explain how to form this tense. Look at the information below and check whether you were right.

& We form the Past Simple of regular verbs by adding –ed to the infinitive of the main verb. Irregular verbs do not form the Past Simple by adding –ed, you must learn them from the list of irregular verbs.

We form negative and interrogative forms with the auxiliary verb did / did not (didn’t), the subject and the infinitive of the main verb without to.

S + V2 (ed)

e.g. Last summer, Julie and Brian visited Australia. They went swimming every day.

S + did not …

e.g. Unfortunately, Julie and Brian didn’t visit the Sydney Opera House and they didn’t see any wild kangaroos.

Did (not) + S + V0 …?

e.g. Did they enjoy themselves? Yes, they did.

Did they see any wild kangaroos? No, they didn’t.

? W did (not) S +V0 …?

e.g. How long did they stay in Australia?

What did they do every day?

Who / What V2 (ed) / didn’t V0 ?

e.g. Who stayed at a lovely hotel in Sydney?

What prevented them from seeingwild kangaroos?

Who didn’t go to go the Sydney Opera House?
