Travel agent: Can I help you?

B: I want to fly to London next week. I’d like to make reservations for a roundtrip ticket.

T. A. What day are you planning to leave for London?

T. A. There are three flights to London on that day – at 10 am, at 8.30 and 9 pm. Do you have any preference about the time of the day?

B. I’d rather leave at 9 pm. I want to get to London early in the morning.

T. A. I can make a reservation for a TWA flight. Are you going to travel class or economy?

B. I prefer economy. How much will it be?

T. A. 440 dollars.

20. Work in pairs. Think of a similar situation. Prepare your own dialogue. Present it to the class.

1. Some people object to air travel. Read their possible objections and give your counter reasons in favour of flying. Use these words and expressions to support your opinions: personally, I think; as far as I’m concerned; according to; I disagree with you; that’s not true; I agree to a some extent/ a certain extent, but… This vocabulary will be helpful for you: you take too great risk, modern airplanes fly too quickly and this is too dangerous, flying is too expensive, planes are too fast and you don’t have time enough to acclimatize yourself to new surroundings and climate, you can’t see anything but clouds while traveling, you get airsick, it’s difficult to get air tickets at the height of summer season.

2. Make up a story for the following situation:

You’ve just arrived from… The flight has been your first journey by air, and you are still feeling very excited about it. You are describing your journey to your friends. Use active vocabulary of the topic.
