6. 1. 1 District stations shall adopt lateral type layout diagram (Figure 6. 1. 1-1 and 6. 1. 1-2) or longitudinal type layout of arrangement of up and down arrival and departure tracks (Figure 6. 1. 1-3). When there are sufficient basis, it may adopt longitudinal type layout diagram for both passenger and freight station or one-stage-three-yard layout diagram.

6.1.2 District station layout diagram shall be selected in considerations of number of tracks introduced, freight volume, transport nature, characteristic of operations in stations and routing of passenger/freight locomotives; under the condition that it shall meet the demands on transportation and technical/economic rationality, while in combination with urban planning and terrain/geological conditions,it shall be handled according to following requirements:

1 The district stations of single track railway shall adopt lateral type layout diagram. If tracks are introduced from multiple directions and freight volume is larger,it may reserve or adopt longitudinal type layout diagram; if there are sufficient basis, it may adopt other

rational layout diagrams.

2 The district stations of double-track railway should adopt lateral type layout
diagram. If tracks with larger freight volume are introduced, there are more passenger
trains and it is used as start/end points for the routing of passenger/freight locomotives,
while terrain conditions are applicable, it may adopt or reserve longitudinal type layout
diagram;if there are sufficient basis,it may also reserve or adopt one-level-three-yard layout
diagram or other rational layout diagrams.

3 The reconstructed district stations may adopt layout diagrams shown in Figures
6. 1. 1-1 ~ 6. 1. 1-3 respectively or longitudinal type layout diagram for passenger/freight
trains;if it is possible to cause large quantities of works or the local conditions are not
applicable, it may adopt other rational layout diagrams through technical and economic
comparisons.
