2 There shall be no connection between new track/newly-built branch track and main track within a section. If an untwining track is connected with main track within a section, the connection place shall have a block post or auxiliary block post.

3 If a new track, branch track or depot siding is connected with the main track or
arrival and departure track within a station.it shall set a catch siding; when a new track or
branch track is connected with the arrival and departure track within a station, if there is
parallel route, isolating turnout and interlock in the station, it may not set catch siding; it may
not be necessary to set catch siding for the connection between locomotive depot/passenger car
servicing depot and arrival and departure track.

3. 1. 10 On a single track railway,if the number of trains shown in parallel train diagram has reached 18—24 pairs or more than 24 pairs,it shall select one station to set up isolating equipment for receiving or departing/receiving passenger and freight trains at an interval of 4~3 and 3~2 sections respectively.

3. 1. 11 When a falling gradient over 6%o existing within the brake distance in pull-in direction outside of home signal,a catch siding shall be set at the end of receiving track. 3. 1. 12 The design of the catch siding shall accord with following requirements:

1 The effective length of the catch siding shall be no less than 50 m.

2 The longitudinal gradient of the catch siding shall designed into flat or up-slope facing buffer stop.

3 There shall be a buffer stop set on the catch siding.

4 The catch siding adjacent to main track shall have guard rails and wheel-stopping earth pads on both sides, if it is possible, the catch siding adjacent to main track shall be arranged in curve shape.

5 The catch siding shall not be set on a bridge or in a tunnel.

6 The distance between the curved end of the catch siding and the adjacent track shall guarantee the safety of the adjacent track when a locomotive or vehicle are turning down side-wards.

3. 1. 13 The effective length for arrival and departure track in the station located in the sector of banking locomotive or the district of auxiliary traction shall be increased by the length of assistant locomotive based on the effective length so specified.

The relationship between the effective lengths of locomotive and arrival and departure track is shown in Figure 3. 1. 13.

3. 1. 14 Stations attached with shunting locomotive adjustment may set adjusting and

servicing equipments of shunting locomotive in a proper place.

3. 1. 15 The arrangement of level crossing shall accord with the following requirements:

1 When the design running speed for a section is 120 km/h or less,in a station with intermediate platform,it should set one level crossing in the middle part of the station to connect intermediate platform with basic platform;when there is a passenger footbridge,it may set a level crossing in the middle part of the station when it is necessary. When the design running speed for a section is more than 120 km/h,there shall be no level crossing set in the station, while crossover track shall adopt grade separation.

2 Passenger car servicing point shall have level crossings at both ends or one end of the servicing siding. If it is necessary to set level two level crossings,the space between the two level crossings shall be no less than the full length of passenger train stock; on

technical servicing siding,it shall increase the space for 10 m used to check coupler.

3 In a station with receiving yard, receiving-departure yard, departure yard or marshalling-departure track for train examinations,it may set a level crossing at the end of the yard or outside of the fouling post.

4 It may set a level crossing in a proper place, in consideration of the road arrangement within station,before or at the back of the rolling section of hump for wagon retarder,or before the turnout of low-capacity hump track group and before wagon retarder within the shunting track.

5 Level passageways may be set in suitable places depending on necessity in other yards,points and depots.

6 Level crossing width shall be determined by applications. If it is designed for
station staffs to walk, it may be 1. 5 m;if it is designed for non-power-driven vehicles, it
may be 2. 5 m;if it is designed for power-driven vehicles,it shall be no less than 3. 5 m.

3. 1. 16 It is necessary to set up road system in a station,while district station,marshalling station and other large stations shall have envelope road for yard, which shall have convenient connections with cities/towns or local roads.

For the overpass bridge to cross over the main road in a station, its clearance shall meet the requirements of pass-through for fire vehicles and carrying vehicles. 3. 1. 17 The arrangement of main production office buildings with direct connections with passenger transport, goods transport and train operations shall meet the demands in applications and guarantee the job safety of persons on duty, convenient communication, and easy observation to worksite and the shortest distance to the site of outdoor operations.

3. 1.18 When the design running speed for a section is 120 km/h and above, stations shall have guard fences,which shall be connected with section guard fences.

3. 1. 19 The designs of railway stations and terminals shall pay great attention to the overall coordination between different disciplines and consider all designs as whole, including relevant structures,optical/electric cable ducts,water supply/drainage pipes,yard drainage and lightning grounding,etc..
